Completely uninspired design.
Not designed with the classic watch enthusiast in mind.
More to come Adam 😉

Well, I'm shocked

You don't actually think this is well-done do you? They put next to no effort in looks like. Figured their customer base is dumb enough to lap it up if they just slap "Porsche" on it

Not designed with the classic watch enthusiast in mind.

Yes, word on the street is TAG isn't done with their Feb releases

I'm picturing a meeting room with the TAG Heuer design department sitting around a big table, racking their brains on design ideas. One raises his finger and shouts 'ASPHALT'

Porsche Design was founded by FA Porsche after he left Porsche. He was a product designer and wanted to create products that embodied his minimalist but sporty design spirit that was so prevalent during his work at Porsche. His first design was the Orfina chronograph, only available through Porsche dealerships, so the bridges with Porsche were certainly not burned. This was the first all black chronograph ever and inspired the many '70s chronographs that followed, including Heuer's Montreal, Carrera, Monza, etc. It remained an indepent luxury lifestyle goods company until bought by Porsche decades later.

Appreciate this sir @Yago 👍 I’m also aware of PD’s history and the Orfina. Just wanted to clarify that IMHO this partnership won’t really hurt PD’s business and objectives since it is mainly a design company and not a watch company. TAG Heuer & Porsche are both synonymous with sports-racing and motorsports, flagship models named “Carrera”, pushes the boundary for design, technology and innovation. Both brands share the same values, share the same passion & spirit that has led them constantly in the same journey. We knew it all along, it’s just now that it became “OFFICIAL” 😉

I’ve always said before, there is a subtle difference between these two, you can either be a petrolhead - racing guy first who is passionate about watches or a watch guy first who happens to love racing & motorsports. I’m probably the former and this passion naturally led me to TAG Heuer 👍

I think it looks a lot better than I expected, but the leaked images lowered my expectations drastically. I think the real problem with it is that if you took the 'Porsche' logo off the bezel, it's just a red and black Carrera with a textured dial. The Aston Martin Carrera had a unique dial.

Hi,

To start with, as I was afraid, Tag Heuer took over the 44mm case.

I already tried the Sport model, it seems to be a big 43mm but it's still too large.

What a pity not to have made a model in 40, 41 or 42mm maximum.

Moreover, even if I love the Porsche brand, I find the lines between the "fake tarmac" and "Porsche" dial on the bezel too coarse.

It looks coarse and it is profoundly lacking in elegance.

That's what this article in French says:

Roughly the same money buys you PDs manufacture 42mm titanium SOSC flyback chronograph. Maybe place TAG Heuer on the bezel?

Everytime an image pops, it reminisces cues of the Nismo and Monaco Grand Prix editions.

Well yeah, I'm not even talking about the design itself, just how unbelievably lazy it is. The design is same old TAG, nothing surprising here. It's more or less just the next model in the 44mm line, and nothing more, except they put "Porsche" on the bezel instead of the Tachymetre text.

Yup. I guess they don't want to take any risks, so they give the public what they want. Which is red and black Carreras. I can't really say much since my two Carreras are red and black.

Kind of agree with this. The collaboration and the watches are clearly not aimed at me - not my thing at all. But I do think the design is rather uninspired. Looks like a cross of the new 44m sport with some design features of Carreras past and nothing really to make it special. For me, it simply dilutes and detracts from the recent fresh start given to the Heuer 02 Carreras and confuses the line-up further.

Once you look past the "exciting" new collaboration marketing speak, it's really easy to see this as nothing more than trying to sell a few watches to Porsche enthusiasts and a few Porsches to TAG enthusiasts.

My local TH AD is also a Porsche Dealer, when they reopen? I might have a wee look at the PD a little closer and enquire about discounts, AD always does a good deal on other stuff.

Love the prices, if only.
Reckon the ‘rally driver’ would have slapped me good looking if I’d asked him to check times since I was busy navigating.:whipped:

So this is, what, 23 minutes past 25 o'clock?

It's not one for me I'm afraid. Too many numbers on the head....and we seem to essentially have a split-12 hour stopwatch.

It's not unusual, they've made it before in the Calibre 16, Heuer 01 and Calibre 5 models.

This had it's own unique look, which the Porsche does not.

Yes, my point exactly. That looks like no other TAG model at the time, or even anything TAG might have done on their own - it feels like Aston had more than a little input on it.

THIS is what happens when I venture this side of the fence! So...this is nothing new then, got it.

C'mon now guys lets be positive. That dance show in the intro was awesome!

So what if TAG hyped this to the skies only to leave most of us disappointed, it was a great pre-recorded live dance show. AND it had a short sequence of Patrick Dempsey looking tired without make-up, slapping his hands in excitement! Plus Patrick promised he will come meet all of us after the pandemic.
