Yes, the Mercedes strategy and Lewis in Hammertime mode made it work! 😀
Great race start by Max, but Lewis/Mercedes race pace was stronger (like in the previous races): it seems Max/RBR is faster on Saturdays, but Lewis/Mercedes is faster on Sundays
After the second pit stop by Lewis, with 22 laps to go and 22s behind Max, Lewis was like…
Looking at how the preseason was, and much of the first race in Bahrain, or even when Lewis was off the track at Imola… hardly anyone would have imagined that the Drivers 'and Constructors' Championship would be like this after four races.
Lewis and Mercedes-AMG are maximizing their results when they may not have the fastest car, based on impeccable team work. Well done! 👍
So frustrating for Max, no one could have gotten that RB faster to finish than he did today. In slomo you can see the RB is all over the place in comparison to Mercedes. Why can’t RB maximize tire grip the way Mercedes can? They need to step up their game or the championship is lost.
Please tell me you're not suggesting the Red Bull was faster today...
Red Bull was not the fastest car today, it was the fastest yesterday (although the Pole Position escaped), but Red Bull had today the first position on the track (after a great start by Max) at a circuit where it is very difficult to overtake. Lewis needed a different strategy to be able to overtake Max on the track, as it was impossible for him with equal tyres. Mercedes won the game over Red Bull in strategy, which Lewis made work.
It's hard to beat Mercedes or actually Hamilton on a track where he won the last 5 years consecutively! 😲
Three things in the race that were exciting for me
1. Max's "no fear" pass on Hamilton on Turn 1 👍
2. Bottas (No More Mr. Nice Guy) not letting Hamilton pass 😁
3. Hamilton passing the "sitting duck" Max 😵💫
Hamilton is really a superior talented driver with superior machinery (and superior strategist) I just wished Max can learn tire management more from Hamilton and still at the same time be at blistering speed. Funny, you'll hear Hamilton "worrying" at the radio but I think it's more of a bluff for the other teams 😉
