This is why the TH Modular concept of Gen2 is so brilliant, because when the connected module becomes obsolete for any reason (battery, hardware, screen, software...), you still can enjoy your lugs, straps, buckles, and bracelets, with the mechanical modules, so all this investment is not lost as with a standard smartwach like Gen3, with no #connectedtoeternity program as Gen1 and Gen2
So when the battery is gone, so is the watch. Not the best business strategy.
Perhaps they think that making disposable watches in China will generate more profit for each watch sold (because of a much lower manufacturing cost), but with higher failure rates (a foreseeable lower quality control is evident compared to when they manufactured Gen2 in their Swiss headquarters) that does not give a good image, and if Gen3 battery cannot be changed, they will have to change many complete watches while they are under warranty, and probably offer a discounted exchange for Gen4 when they fail out of warranty... 馃
