I've seen approved battery with WIFI turned off. Is there any reason I should keep wifi on other than receiving updates? My watch is always connect to my phone via Bluetooth.

Forgive my naivete, why are people so fanatical over battery life, turning off all of the features to have it last slightly longer?

I am happy that it lasts 14 hours, and usually has 50-60% remaining when I place it on the charger.

What difference does ~30 hours provide? It will just die the middle of the next day.

Gentlemen, I just ordered a Black Titanium Connected as my delayed Christmas present and it will be arriving on Tuesday. I have two other Tag Heuer watches and this is my first smartwatch. I've been reading the threads in this forum to be properly prepared and I found someone mentioning that the battery needs to be conditioned to work optimally. Google searches did not come up to any useful information so I'm asking if I could please be pointed tom the right information. I'm quite excited about my new watch.

Hi @eldorado , and congrats for your first TH smartwatch! 👍

We call it calibrating the battery:
Charge it up to 100% when you receive the watch (so you can update the system and the latest version of Wear OS), go to watch settings and switch off the battery saving mode (and also the battery saving mode at 10%), and use the watch until the battery is completely discharged and the watch automatically turns off. Then put it in the charger and do not remove it until it is 100% (it should take about 2.5 hours). Repeat that same process (100% / 0% / 100%) at least one more time (ideally two more times), and the battery will already be calibrated and giving its best performance

Thanks. Anything else I should be aware of before getting to use the watch?

Just two tips to avoid burn-in in the AMOLED screen:

- Do not put it on the charger overnight. Remove the watch from the charger as soon as the battery is at 100%

- Change the watchface very often, even better if you change it daily

So wearing it during the day and leaving it to charge overnight is out of the question. I'm assuming that the screen doesn't go dark while charging like cell phones do and the Tag Heuer logo will be burned in?

The screen goes dark while charging. I guess the problem with leaving the watch on the charger for
many hours is the magnet of the charger. This advice was given to a forum member by the TAG Heuer customer service, and I’m following the advice since then... just in case 😉

I charge the watch up to aprox. 80% before going to sleep (it takes few minutes), then I switch off the watch, and I put it on the charger again (which automatically switches on the watch) when I wake up. This is enough to leave home with the battery at 100%, and without having the watch on the charger overnight.

Happy New Year to everyone.
From today I am the proud owner of the Connected 2020 in the matt-grey titanium version. It is a nice watch that, without the wings and the extra long lugs of the Connected Modular 45, sits better on my puny wrist. It is also much lighter and comfortable to wear. However there is no denying that it just doesn't look as expensive as the Connected Modular 45. @Albert-AMG I am nearly sure that indeed the newest Connected would not sway you away from your amazing collection.
For me, I am now undecided whether I will sell my Connected 45 or keep both.

You can be 110% sure! 😉 👍

Don’t sell the Modular 45 😬... you would miss it, it’s a very special smartwatch with strong personality, and you can always use it with a mechanical module #connectedtoeternity 😉

damn that matte grey does look good, still want to see it in person. In stainless with the gloss ceramic bezel it does look high end, maybe even more so than the 45. The 45 does look more unique of course.

The Modular 45 is truly unique , not just within Tag Heuer but within the watch world. Collections of straps, lugs, clasps and Mechanical heads will be sought after in the future by collectors. Even today second hand watches are retaining high values this can only increase as less become available, but make sure you have at least one mechanical head in your set.

Before I received mine, I had never seen this matt grey variant live and I also didn't know how it might look like live. It was more of an impulse buy. From the Connected (2020) variants that I had seen live till now, I preferred the stainless steel version with the silver brushed bezel, though I thought it looked slightly too glossy. Now I can say that the stainless steel version is a bit too glossy, the titanium grey a bit too matt, with the previous generation's (Connected Modular 45) satin brushed titanium treatment looking somewhere in between, and for me the most luxurious.
One peculiarity of the Connected (2020) matt Grey version is that the thin facet between the bezel and the body that looks darker on pictures is not just a shadow or trick of light but it is actually black matt coated to make the bezel look like it floats.

My watch arrived yesterday and I'll have time to go through the set up this afternoon. I noticed the instructions included in the box have contradictory information. One source says to use the Tag Heuer connected app to activate it and another to use the WearOS one. Which one should I use? Both, one after the other in a particular sequence, do they conflict with each other if I use both? Please let me know.

They are different apps with different purposes and you have to use both, first WearOS and then TH Connected app.

I hope you have understood now the logic; the Wear OS is the basic companion app that connects (and keeps connected) your watch to your phone. It is essential and common for all Wear OS smartwatches. The TAG Heuer Connected app, comes second, it is optional and it enhances the capabilities of your watch with TAG Heuer-specific content, like extra watch faces and fitness tracking.

I have more battery related questions:

Now that I have run the conditioning cycle, what should I do when I'm not wearing the watch? Do I turn it off completely at whatever percentage it is at the time and then when I'm going to use it, turn it on and top it off to 100%? Do I let it run to 0% and then charge it the day I need it?

Also, what is the expected life cycle of the battery? Can it be replaced when it dies?

It’s better to store the watch (turning it off) with battery at 80%. If you store the watch with battery at 0% during many days, the battery could die

A Gen3 owner who had battery problems received a brand new watch from TH, as they told him that the battery could not be changed in Gen3... it’s strange, because there are four screws at the back, but this was the info he received from TH customer service

So my plan is to take a photo of my favorite face now, print it in high resolution, glue it on the watch and put it on a shelf when the battery dies.

So when the battery is gone, so is the watch. Not the best business strategy.
