Here is a picture. Same watch face on both the 45 and gen 3. Gen 3 is alot darker, and in person is even darker than the picture. Not to mention both watches have the same face, and the 45 is more detailed. Even the marq has better AOD. Is mine defective?

I definitely think there may be something wrong. It's the same problem I spotted in the Boutique. Very low light on AOD.
Maybe try and do a full Reset of Watch?
I'm no expert but that's all I can think of. I will send you a pic of my AOD shortly.

Does the AOD really show full yellow colour?

Yes it sure does.
That is a pic taken in my Longeroom. Indoors will always pop a little more. But honestly it's very bright.

Marq looks really good! Not seen an on the wrist shot before, that's clearly a big step up from the fenix/forerunner.

Thank you for doing this, i do want to see your results...

Hey Mase

Took watch off charger this morning at 7.20am and disabled AOD. Had a pretty heavy day of notifications and calls and as I'm about to charge watch overnight it still has 59% at 11.17pm.
So much better battery usage without AOD.
I'm using the Timing Watch Face set to Yellow colour.

Hope this gives you a good idea of the difference with and without AOD.

Cheers
Anthony

I would buy the marq TODAY if it had a touch screen.....

My pleasure
I'm going back to AOD on tomorrow.
I just love seeing the watch face all the time.
I don't mind charging the watch overnight every night.

All the best

On the marq you really don't want the touch screen. The pushers work great to navigate menus. Plus is nice it can be used if the screen is wet. Also the screen never gets finger smudges which is awesome.

I think I figured it out. AOD brightness is determined by the auto brightness sensor. Idk if mine is physically damaged or the software is bad, but unless outside, it always goes to "1" brightness, which in turn kills the AOD and makes it near unreadable inside during the day. If I change the setting from auto to 3, the screen is decently bright, and the AOD is also bright. The sensor works as if I shine a flashlight on the watch the screen the AOD go to "5" brightness. Seems like a glitch in the software. I seem to remember the 45 having a similar issue back in 2018

It looks amazing. The rubber straps hugs the case like the old 45, and honestly the marq build quality surpassed both TAGs. If only they put a better screen in it.

I agree, but its a personal preference thing. i am an avid user/lover of the touch screen. If the marq had one i would buy it in a heartbeat... maybe in their next version...

My AOD is super dim, almost not readable.
According to your pictures, it’s readable.
Mine is brighter, but I have the setting in 4 or 5, not automatic (it’s too dim).
