You read my mind. But damn I'll be old by then. 🙄
Yes, would likely be a retirement gift to myself.

Box set, priced at 39K CHF. Individual pics and videos of all 5 watches can be seen if you swipe through the IG post: https://www.instagram.com/p/B4R53Qcneru/

Someone from New York area has put up this box set for sale in Chrono24. Whooping 17K USD premium is being expected.

Cheers.

This article states that TH will discontinue the left side crown Monaco. I can't believe that TH would not keep a 1133b re-edition left crown style Monaco in its line up. They should just keep the CAW211P if they can't make the H02 work with a left side crown.

"Enjoy the iconic Monaco silhouette of the left-side crown and two-pushers on the right-side while it lasts. TAG Heuer are not only putting the full stop on the Monaco 50th Anniversary, but also the Calibre 11 that powers it. Since the beginning, the Monaco has been powered by one of the first automatic chronograph movements in production. The Calibre 11 name has remained but the movement architecture has changed over the years. From 2020, the in-house Calibre Heuer 02 will take its place and keep the winding crown on the right-hand side alongside the pushers. From a usability perspective, I understand this choice, but personally wish the southpaw crown remained for nostalgia’s sake."

Can't help thinking they are getting their knickers in a twist and mixing it up with the Calibre 12. I cannot believe TAG Heuer will abandon the 'iconic' left hand crown... history is EVERYTHING in watch sales, it would be insanity to do this. But if they did, then expect prices of left hand crown pieces to jump up. I'm just finishing up that book about the Patek Supercomplication and you know what actually started the whole 'luxury watch' business? It was a 'rumour' that Patek were going to dump mechanical watches and adopt quartz wholesale. How crazy is that? Within five years Pateks had gone up 500%. So this rumour could be deliberate misinformation, but whatever it is I won't believe it until it happens.

That said, how does TAG Heuer square the in-house Heuer 02 in the TAG Heuer Monaco and the Selitta 300 in the Heuer... 🤔

On a separate note... I was in a boutique today and they asked me if I wanted to see one of the 50th Anniversary pieces (it wasn't for sale), but when they brought it out it was the Calibre 12 Final Edition! 😡

The seller has cleverly cropped up the number. An inquiry will reveal this, I think. Let me check.

Cheers.

^ I saw that last night. Months ago, I was told that the US box-sets were all sold-out. So they have must have brought some of the unsold allocations from abroad.

That’s a crazy price for a bunch of dial configurations on a standard calibre 11. This sort of money buys a Black Lord.

"The Monaco doesn’t compare in terms of numbers of watches sold to the Carrera, the Aquaracer and the Formula 1. We could sell more but we limit the numbers we produce on purpose. We are not making Monaco to make money; we are making it so it stays an icon."

I did not know that TH limits the production. The non-LE Monaco watches seem easily available to anyone who wishes to buy one.

In the context of the 50th anniversary LEs... as you say, there is no limited production of your standard blue dial Monaco, they are everywhere.
