I am on vacation in London and I have entered the TH Boutique and they have told me that from the 69-70 series they received 5 pieces and I have told them that they all ended up in Chrono24 for sale. apart from me .... nobody buys to keep the clock?
This is a real shame. I noticed on Chrono24 that there's been a recent new batch of the 90s model, all brand new, put on sale at a premium. There's still a bunch of the red too. All obviously snatched up by speculators looking to make some greedy profit.

It puts the real Monaco fans at a disadvantage, as in most cases we need to see the actual reveal to decide whether or not to buy. While the speculators don't care and plunk their money down far in advanced with no intent of keeping the watch! 馃槨

Seems speculation like this is why Rolex dealers hold onto warranty docs and relevant tags for 12* months after the sale.

*12 months at least. Maybe even 24?

Do you mean that when one buys a Rolex, the dealer does not give you the warranty documents to prevent you from selling it on?

Does anyone have pictures of the 1000 limited edition coming later this year (CAW211J I believe)?

If so, any chance you could PM?

(Need to decide whether to try and source a CAW211Z when it comes out, or go for the CAW211J instead...)

Yes, that seems to be the situation, it鈥檚 discussed a lot on Rolex based forums, buyers who are in it to keep the watch are fine but some folk aren鈥檛 so happy, any warranty work needed are covered by returning the watch to the selling dealer.

I can't believe that is even legal. Part of what one pays for is the warranty and the right to exercise that warranty at any AD. Withholding the paperwork would make me withhold part of the payment.

Yeah, what if you bought it on holiday and it goes wrong at home?

Rolex seem to take the opinion of, -if you don鈥檛 like it go buy something else, there is a queue of buyers for this watch- I believe if there is a warranty issue you can return the watch to Rolex who then contacts suppling dealer, since many dealers are doing this it must be with Rolex blessing.

Well yes I guess Rolex are in this unique position of being able to turn down customers...

I know for a fact that some Monaco 50th customers were turned down. My boutique would only sell to folks who were registered on the TAG system, and who they had sold to before.

I think that's fair enough, unfortunately the flippers were obviously already on the system.

Flippers tarnish every industry and as someone else said unfortunately they are probably in the dealer system as having bought numerous watches before.

Porsche really managed to sort flippers out with the 991 GT3RS. Previous RS models were limited run with like 1200 being produced, so all the flippers jumped on and got ahead of everyone to buy them and flip them with a markup......little did they know Porsche didn鈥檛 limit production and over 6000 were produced 馃槤

As long as people are willing to pay a premium they鈥檒l always be flippers.

I think these two should be swapped. I associate Tetris with the Gameboy of the '90s rather than the '80s. Although VHS tapes were still popular in the '90s, I feel the heyday of VHS was more in the 80s, with DVDs starting to supersede VHS in the later 90s.
