This one is $10,100 down under. It looks like the Heuer 02 Carreras are attracting a large price premium.
I note the cases are still titanium, but at least we don't have the faux carbon dials we had on the Aquaracers...
I really hope that next year we'll get the 43mm phantom Carbon model that was previewed in February. Otherwise a phantom variant in 45mm would be fine too. CARRERA CBG2016- CARBON FIBRE
During my boutique visit yesterday they showed me the 02 Viper, the Japanese green Monaco and the latest Carbon 02 that arrived the day before. The press photos look great but it’s even better in the metal/carbon.
Unfortunately not - it was brought out in the transit case and out of respect I left it in the protective plastic. Not for me but it was a very nice green shade - both face and strap.
I approve! Glad to see that the higher priced examples are getting some special attention in this dept. I know there’s “the waste of money” / “back of the wardrobe” debate regarding boxes. But at these price points i think it is basically an experience that people are buying and a nice presentation I feel enriches that experience.
I agree. It’s definitely one of the nicest bespoke boxes Tag have produced and is on point with the watch design. The experience was also one of the best I’ve had - I actually felt valued as a customer, something increasingly rare in this and other industries.
The Grand Carrera's came in a nice polished wood box, sadly mine lives on top of the wardrobe as my GC is in my watch cabinet. Shame really..
I think that’s the crux of it. If you only have one or two watches a fancy box adds to the sense of special occasion. But as the collection grows, then the game of ‘hunt the watch’ in an increasing number of boxes does become a little tedious.
Yeah, plus when you get more than about 6 it starts to become an issue of space! Also, if you start buying pieces without boxes then you start buying boxes to put them in and it all gets a bit silly. Cabinets are the way to go, although they aren't that easy to find. Plenty of boxes, very few cabinets.
