A proper TAG Heuer release, with a proper part number, but not a proper watch. LOL

As I said before, it's your game so we'll play by your rules. 😀
But you just changed the rules. 🙄

Connected is a special case. Even TAG put the Connected in it's own section on the website. Cos it's NOT A PROPER WATCH

You know TAG Heuer has their own polls, the results often differ from our forum. 😁
Hahaha

And yet it's taken three years for anyone to bring it up.

Do you really want me to make you vote on every variation of the Connected???

In theory, if the Connected pieces were to be included, then each release would all be the same internally. There would only be potential differences where an updated edition of an existing generation was released early in the year, followed by a new generation later.

On that basis, voting would generally be based on the looks of each option. Steel, DLC, Titanium, Bracelet, Strap, etc.

That’s if they were in a section of their own. I have no idea how you would begin to compare Connected with Analogue as there would be clear disconnects between the value people place on Smart vs Traditional Analogue.

On what basis would you even compare? Maybe such a contest is best organized in the connected threads?

This has come up before, you had the same response last time. Everyone remembered they don't care about connected smart watches and shut up.

Do you really want me to make you vote on every variation of the Connected???

Easy: modular, original, cheap Chinese junk. Forget the special editions because they are even dumber than paying £1500 for a £300 generic Chinese smart watch.*

* next debate: is it dumber paying £1500 for a generic Chinese smart watch, or £2800 for a £50 sellita calibre 5...

Next question. If no one votes for the Connected models, except for three people who are all invested, and they all give it 10s... are you going to accept that the Connected was the WOTY?

It is a proper watch and in Tags top sellers

It's certainly a big seller, much bigger than the other 'Carreras' for sure. 😜

We have to abide by the voting results, we don’t always get the result we want after a ballot, I’m not influenced by popularity polls.

The other scenario is most people score it 0 in which case including it is pointless. I honestly don't know how I'd score it..

No matter what, it will always score better than the worst watch of the century. Im speaking of course, about the Monaco Riviera.

It's just a question of being inclusive of all TAG Heuer model releases or not. I'm not advocating one way or the other, but the Connected does have its fans on this forum. It's not just 3 people, there's a whole bunch of forum members who post in the THF Connected section. They likely aren't included in COCO voting.

Also, we wouldn't be voting on all the available Connected models, just the new releases of the given year. For example, this year there was a new Porsche Connected and E4 line itself was new, and last year there was the Mario edition etc. I don't follow the Connected at all, but would've been capable of giving them scores.

Similarly, why do we vote on all the ladies watches released during the year? I have even less interest in those than I do the Connected. Do we think a ladies watch will ever win WOTY when all of the COCO members are male? We do it because we want to be inclusive.

I'm fine with the way things are. But just telling it like it is.

Okay, well. To be honest about it, the reason is my wife likes watches so I am quite interested in women's watches. Not so much the run of the mill ones with MOP dials, but certainly the more unusual ones like her green Aquaracer, the purple Carrera and the Bella Hadid Link and the historical models. We include them because I write about new women's watches when they are released and I occasionally write about historical women's watches (generally ones my wife has collected, but some others too).

On the other hand I have purposely stayed away from writing about the Connected on my blog because I do not know anything about it. I would not be able to write 'First Impressions' posts for the Connected, what would I say? I don't even know what they do, it would be pointless... I have written about it once when I tried one on at Bicester Village and I think that's probably about it.

Bluntly, the WOTY is for and therefore defined by the content of the TAG Heuer Enthusiast blog, not the forum. Hence the Connected is not included.

Also FYI not all members of the COCO are male.

On the other hand, the Connected crew are more likely to vote for 45mm skeleton dial Carreras so maybe we should get them on board. 😁

Fair enough, it is your blog's WOTY not the TH Forum's. But it's hard to distinguish the difference sometimes, as you draw so heavily from this forum.

Sanity returning or is it your wife’s collection that’s gonna grow now?

Great read Rob! I have noticed you becoming more and more of a posh snob, I guess this confirms it. Let me ask you, do you now have a price minimum for watch purchases 😝

No, wife says she will also operate a 1 in 1 out policy in future.
