I enquired about a SS daytona and was told that unless I was a ‘special customer’ i had a cat in hell’s chance. Sadly it also has to be rolex spend that qualifies. And there is little else in the Rolex range that appeals. So Omega and Heuer will continue to get my hard earned. Rolex can stick it. I picked up 2 Heuers and a moonphase Speedmaster for the price of a PM Daytona so I’ll wait for the SS bubble to burst rather than play their game or pay over the odds on secondary market. Life’s too short for lengthy waiting lists! 😜

I can see the problem the dealers have, if they just can't get the stock then they are going to prioritize accordingly. But it seems it's gone a bit far of late... I'm glad I'm not into Rolex. I guess maybe the plan is to drive up the grey market and then put the list price up and then release the built up stock...? Or is that too cynical?

Hi Jim, yes- this year I have definitely gone a bit crazy. It will definitely be slowing down now though, funds are drying up! 🙁
The 6000 is growing on me, I loved the photographs, but I've never been crazy about silver dials... I probably overpaid a bit. There's another one on eBay now for £500 and it's not selling - which is a bit annoying. But still, what can you do. I've filled in a lot of the pieces I wanted to get (SEL, 4000, 3000) lately, and now I really don't know what's next.

Actually the new 6000 is going back for repair. There's an issue with the bracelet and also the 1/10 subdial isn't resetting to 12.
🙁

Great to see a state of the collection post, love quartz just like me 👍

You sure have built an amazing collection of both watches, merch and caralogues. Looking forward to what 2019 will bring!

Thanks Jim, I'd been meaning to do it for so long, and annoyingly my 1991 catalogue didn't turn up until after Christmas so it was too late to include it... ah well, guess I'll have to do it again next Christmas!

I really didn't plan to fill up my watch cabinet so quickly, I thought it would take a few years... but things happen. And actually, one watch is on it's way out to make way for two new ones - more on that soon!
