Carbon definitely seems like the ideal material, I agree.
Shocker that Mr Carbon himself would think so. You guys can go start a club for men who love carbon

Ariel Adams doesn't love carbon. He mocks the idea that carbon is valuable.

They exist already. Most members wear Lycra.

I never wear Lycra.

Well actually that's not true, my undercrackers have Lycra in them. They need to stretch, if you know what I mean.

Which is ironic when vintage steel is more valuable than vintage gold most often.

That’s disappointing. Planning to replace it?

I bought my Seamaster to stop myself buying bikes. lol

It was terrible timing, selling just before empty roads and perfect sunshine for months. I’m not going to replace it anytime soon, unless we get another pandemic.

I enjoyed many a mile during that initial period. All whilst staying within a 4 mile radius of my house.

You sound bitter, Rob 👎 Maybe because you already know the answer to the question in your last blog’s title… —>
But I can't really blame TAG Heuer, the watch community as a whole is now so entrenched in this backwards-looking mindset that it's probably commercial suicide to even think about launching a genuinely new watch (..)
You’ll hardly EVER see a genuinely new watch from a luxury conglomerate brand. Because at the prices they command, hardly anyone would take the risk of buying them…

Look at the M.A.D.1, the Belcanto, the Fastback Drift or the SpaceOne. And who released them! All at <(<)5k.

Look I understand the reasons, but clearly 20 years ago there was an appetite for innovation and fresh design and now that's been replaced by heritage and history. I suspect the luxury brands went this route because its the one thing they've got over the competition. Bremont don't have 150 years of history to justify the prices for example... we already know the brands idea of creativity is using cheap titanium and selling it as premium luxury... so yeah, maybe I do sound bitter. Maybe it's not unjustified.

What's funny is that oddities like the Golf remain popular to this day. People ask for them at outlets even now.

But look at the break down of last years releases. Two F1s, 1 Autavia (which was nothing new, just uncoated steel), 0 Links, 50 odd Carreras and 20 odd Aquaracers.

I would say there's never been less choice in the range than there is now.

He needs to read the lifestyle magazine Hodinkee. That will teach him to appreciate proper horology.

I just think that, you know, maybe every ten years a watch brand should bring out one genuinely new watch. I'm not asking for one every year, or even one every few years. I don't actually think these brands would know how to market a new watch, because there's probably no one left in the marketing department from 2008 or whenever.
