Thanks for all the nice comments guys! 👍
A great read @Hubert. I'm aligned with your overall sentiment with the brand, I believe they can and should do better. The only watches that grabbed my interest in 2021 are their SE's & LE's. I'm not attracted enough to any of the new standard offerings to actually buy them, that shouldn't be the case.

Exactly! I'm looking forward to 2022, as it will bring a few more appealing offerings for the TAG Heuer line.

I hand-wind my automatics too
The pleasure of hand-winding is just unbeatable.

I hand-wind everything that I can on a daily basis, as I prefer to have my watch set (roughly) to the correct time (and date) when I put it on in the morning. I have winders for some watches that have more finicky screw-down crowns or that don't respond well to hand-winding.

Some automatic watches are nicer to hand-wind than others of course, and before this issue occurred the 844 Edition was actually one of them, I'd say.

I've been hovering the 'buy' button on C24 for some listings of the 844.

I still like the watch, and think it's worth buying, but probably not unless and until the price comes down on the secondary market. I can't say I fully regret buying it though. We'll see how bad it gets but I just really think TAG needs to make some improvements if they want to continue charging $3000 for a microbrand-quality movement. Their dials and cases are much nicer, yes, but I'm not sure they're $2k nicer.

Oh man, I don't judge. The pleasure of hand-winding is just unbeatable.

I find the bb58 has a particularly nice winding action. The calibre 5 feels like trying to start a chainsaw by comparison.

Oh yes. I let my 58 run out of power on purpose, just to be able to give it a proper good hand-wind.

All this just makes me love quartz even more. Every 1-3 years I take the back off, pop a little battery in and off we go... bliss.

@dtf is all about serious business, he is taking the most time of us all to evaluate and score the watches of 2021

I hope someday Tag Heuer release Solar Powered movement. Cartier already did. Gshock and Seiko are way ahead.

That would be great, especially if it saw a new range of anni-digi models. TAG is sadly pedestrian now compared to the past when they had cool innovations like the Calibre S etc.

That is one of three critically important tasks on my todo list for today.

Hand-wind is another. Whats the third critically important thing?
