Given the hassle involved and the amount of energy spent already, I think I would be inclined to take the 4200 Euro and go and buy a Tudor instead.
I may go with the Aquaracer 300 pro-GMT on stainless with a rubber and stainless clasp. This combo comes in at 4200,00 euros. Up to 50 hours reserve, different white/blue bezel. Lots of Octogans.
I have Rolexes, so no Tudors for me. 😀

Most people usually have additional insurance on their watches, either as a standalone insurance or tied up with their home insurance. By your response, I don't think you had one. If you had one, you could've possibly explored that option for getting the rightful compensation.

do you have an independent valuation for this assumption or is it based on C24? C24 or any other online portal will not be considered a credible source for evaluating a watch's price as those are the prices defined by the individual consumers based on their opinions. You'll find the same watch ranging from 3000-10000 $ for example on these portals (might be an exaggeration, but you get the idea).

Best to talk to a lawyer in your country on the matter.
In the process of doing so.

Someone else had a similar situation with an Autavia, which unfortunately had gone up from about £4000 to £12000 was it?
On the one hand I can see the view that they only cover the original cost - otherwise their insurance would be complicated, but given the loss of customer goodwill and the fact that Bernard Arnault is the richest man in the world, and given there can't be that many instances of this in any given year, you'd think they would be a bit more agreeable.

Charlie has both. It can be done.

Dear .....,

thank you for your reply.

We understand your concern, but after further consultation, we can only offer the following three options.

The first option is the free rebuilding of the stolen watch from original TAG Heuer-produced spare parts.
The watch will not be assembled from various components.

As a second option, we can offer you the new watch CBC2110.BA0603 with an additional payment of 950,00€.
The 950,00€ is the difference that exceeds the value of the stolen watch.

Alternatively, we can offer you on our homepage a watch of your choice up to a value of 4.200,00€, which is the value of the stolen watch:
https://www.tagheuer.com/de/de/

We cannot offer other options in this case.
Please let us know which offer you would like to accept.

Kind regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Cordialement

Does that mean you chose a replacement? Which one? The Aquaracer Pro 300 GMT? Not too bad an outcome tbh if so, and you can move on.

Yes, I take the Aqua 300 pro plus a rubber strap with an SS clasp. Yet the question remains, am I entitled to full replacement value? Then another 950 is owed to me.

You haven't really answered the question as to how you arrived at the valuation for the watch that you did. Why do you think it was worth 950 more than the original purchase price? In terms of what you are "entitled" to, TAG have made their policy clear and would argue that you have been provided with an equivalent new watch, so it would be up to a judge to decide. Anything we say will just be opinion rather than fact.

Presumably now you have accepted a replacement it's moot anyway... I'm sure the fine print will say that's the end of it.

Indeed, I did, multiple times. Read above. Tag put that price on the stolen watch and Tag retails the new Link for 5150,00. Well, perhaps I am looking for someone in the forum who may have gone through the same scenario. That way, the community knows their rights and what they are rightfully entitled to over and above what Tag dictates by opinion, instead of lawful liability.

That is an assumption as I have not signed off on anything, and no official documentation, freeing Tag from any future claims pertaining to this scenario. Plus, the answer still has not been answered, which was the reason I reached out to the community.

Surely putting you back in the situation you were before would mean giving you the second-hand value of the watch not the value of a new replacement? Or offering to build you a new one from parts which they offered as one of the options. Personally I feel that in getting a new watch of your choice up to the new value of the original is reasonable compensation. I mean they could have offered more as a gesture of goodwill and to ensure your complete satisfaction but personally I would take it and move on. I'm sure you've wasted enough of your life on this already.

Where do you get the price 5150 in the current catalogue, which model do you look at? The CBC2110 for example costs 4450
I think he's dealing in Euros

Second hand value of an old CT2111 is like £900.... you loose a £900 watch and you got a brand new WBP2010 out of this? And you're complaining? 😒😁 I would be super happy!

Very appreciative, yet Tag needs be responsible for what they need to be responsible for, simply trying to understand if they are not living fully up to their obligations, especially since DHL will ultimately be responsible. Yet indeed the watch is a beauty with many individual features. 😀

I am not complaining, point out where I have. I did not lose a watch, the watch was stolen by DHL. SIMPLY WANT TO UNDERSTAND THE EXACT LIABILITY OF TAG, THAT'S IT. CLEAR ENOUGH.

Point being I wanted information as to liability, not whether I should put it behind me. I was successful and simply wished to understand if Tag was being fully responsible for their liability. That's it, nothing more.

That’s fine, I hear you. My point is that plenty of opinion has now been offered, which suggests you have been fairly treated, now we have had sight of their response.

You have been through a bit of an ordeal by the sounds of it, but no point dwelling on it now you could be enjoying something new, that’s literally all I am suggesting. 😀
