Well, like Corfam-look leather. Corfam has a certain plasticky sheen to it (because it's, y'know, plastic 😁 ) so there's a difference between a leather racing strap and a Corfam-style leather racing strap. Think the TAG official straps for the Glassbox watches
Yes, I know what you mean, I was just twisting your words 😀

I'm very happy with my Corfam look rally strap. But I'm tempted to try this one. Looks almost like it was tailor made for the Dato 45. Thoughts?

For some reason I really prefer the dato on straps without contrast stitching. Which is strange cause on the Ice King I like it a lot on my red strap where the stitching matches the creamy lume

I would like it more if it either had black stitching or keep the stitch and loose the contrast in the leather colors. I like when the strap helps make a little detail of the watch come out, compliment it in a less is more way.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm drawn to contrasting stitch for some reason. But I tend to agree, with the dato, less is more. So I'll stick with my all black rally.

Since we're talking about straps now, I can reach out with a question as well?

As you may have seen, I've got a CV2111, currently on the TH rally strap + deployant. However, all these corfam, corfam-esque, reissue/vintage style straps have me hankering for another strap that's a little more casual than the TH one. @imagwai has elsewhere cosigned GLC straps, and I really like the look.

Wanted to see if anyone had any experience with either their Replica 4 M1 Corfam, their Racing Strap in Imola, or the Porche Racing Strap (which, correct me if I'm wrong, @Mspeedster has...on the dato, yes?) Or do you recommend another maker?

Anyways, rather than bother my girlfriend about it, who, bless her, has zero preference or desire to indulge my hemming and hawing, I decided to bother y'all. I already took @thingziliketoo 's advice on the BoR bracelet, so I guess you'll all be right on the strap question too. Thanks in advance!

Yes I have the GLC Corfam Replica Imola Racing strap on my Dato. I also bought the Porsche 356 strap, but not in the style shown in your link. Both of my straps are pictured on the previous page: https://forums.calibre11.com/thread...e-carrera-dato-45.127687/page-39#post-1781173

The reason I didn't get the Porsche strap in the Racing Rally style is because I wanted the Corfam look for my Dato. The Imola strap is shinier and blacker compared to the Porsche strap and replicates the Corfam look well. The Porsche strap ends up looking like a dark grey when paired with the Ink Black dial of the Dato. It gives off a nice and different look, but not as Corfam "like" compared to the Imola.

I love both straps and highly recommend GLC. You might also check out Strap Tailor, Two Stitch, and Veblenist, they all make nice straps. There are so many strap makers out there. But if you want the Corfam style, no need to look further than GLC.

It was @Yago who pointed me to GLC when I inquired about the strap he has on his vintage Carrera 1153. He has the flat leather style in dark blue, while my Imola is black and the padded style.

Atelier Romane make some mean corfam style straps. Bang for buck there’s probably nothing better out there than GLC. I believe jt was @imagwai who pointed them out originally.

I believe it was, and I have had them saved in my favourites for a long time, but only placed my first order last week! So now I can recommend them properly. The price I paid included UK vat and I paid 10 EUR for quick shipping and it arrived in 1 working day.

The Strap Tailor mentioned above keeps appearing in my feed and they look fantastic too. My other favourite leather strap places are The House of Straps and B&R bands.

I've bought from Strap Tailor, Veblenist, B&R bands, Colareb, Hirsch, Geckota and many others. All very nice and well made to varying degrees depending on price. But I have to say, I'm quite impressed with GLC, it's my new favorite. 👍

I just got two new straps for my Dato 45. (Shout out to @Yago for pointing me to GLC straps.)

This first strap is pretty cool. It's a limited edition strap made from the seat upholstery of an actual vintage Porsche 356. It comes in two styles, a racing rally strap and the style I got, shown in my pic below. My strap is #48 out of 80. 😀

@Mspeedster, what is that a photo of on the right side of the pic? The actual upholstery of the seat that the strap came from?

Yes, exactly. Nice touch by GLC to include it so you know where your strap came from.

I’m still getting used to the asymmetry but this is one lovely deep black dial 🥰 I know part of the quirkiness of the Dato 45 is having that single register at 3 o’clock and a date window at 45 minutes 😉
I have to agree and appreciate what Hodinkee has done placing a black chapter ring instead of the original white. This makes the Dato’s dial even more expansive and blends very well to the over-all package 👍 What attracted me the most is that it still inherently possess the simple yet clean and clear design of the classic Carreras. The hour markers also pop out against the black dial in contrast to the Carrera Silver 160 where the hour markers blend with the stunning silver sunburst dial! All in all I’m quite amazed with the Dato 45 since it has a personality very different from the two glassbox Carreras that I have which are the Telemeter & the Ice King 😀 I also find the Dato 45 a better partner to complement the Silver 160 since it also has the 160 anniversary rotor seen at the crystal caseback 😎 Makes me think that this watch truly harkens back to its roots in the golden age of watches & motorsports in the 60s-70s.

Highlights for the three Carrera Glassbox ::psy::::psy::::psy::
Telemeter (2-register, silver-to-gold champagne dial)
Silver 160 (3-register, metallic sunburst silver dial)
Dato 45 (1-register, reverse panda deep black dial)

PS. Dato refers to the “date placement” but it also uniquely means “title of a local leader” in our country, where it makes the Carrera Dato 45 a little bit more special to me 👍 I assume this is the first & only one so far in my country, the Philippines. (This will probably be my last watch until I reach 45 😁) Cheers! ::rimshot::
