I thought it was gold.... 😬

It’s the nearest I’m going to get to a solid gold watch. And Wolf of Wall Street has ruined my chances of picking up the ultimate gold (coloured) watch which is the TH1000 diver….

So; on the pelagos 39mm. Having seen it in the flesh today:

1. The 39mm size is definitely better for me than the normal pelagos. I can wear 42mm though. Just a preference thing. All watches for me are benchmarked as big or small by the TH1000 i wore for 20yrs…. That will always be the standard unit of watch size for me.

2. I definitely prefer the dial features of the normal pelagos (the markers indented into the Rehaut, and a DATE).

3. The sunburst is moderate (barely noticeable in the store); it just looked glossy; although the assistant said its more noticeable under natural light.

So. Would i buy the pelagos 39mm? No - well not in black anyway - its just a bit too similar to my 844 to fit in my collection. And as you can see i found some other things to spend money on!

Do i think its a credible/attractive option for those wanting a submariner but unable to afford one? Or wait for years? ABSOLUTELY. And I do think Tudors value proposition (price, quality, accuracy) is hard to beat at the moment.

In terms of the big vs small theme on this thread, I think it will slot in nicely ALONGSIDE the pelagos in the range. For me it reminded me a little of the way the bathyscaphe sits alongside the 50 fathoms.

On YouTube Brent miller did a comparison video with the submariner. I have to say, I preferred the looks and proportions of the pelagos to the sub if I’m honest.

The only thing I don't quite like is how the bezel finish catches the light in some live pics. I guess I'll have to wait 2 or 3 years to try it on myself

Yup I can see that.

I can understand what you mean there. Compared to the (very) black dial the ceramic bezel has a slightly grainy, slightly grey-ish effect at certain angles.

So the last six years I've heard nothing but 'this isn't a Carrera, that's not a Carrera'... but it's apparently okay for Tudor to make a watch that isn't a Pelagos and call it a Pelagos. Right? I guess it only applies to watches that get bigger. That must be it. 🙄

Plenty of people sharing similar sentiment and saying "it's not a Pelagos" if you go on Tudorholics and other forums.

Why do you hate the Pelagos lite so much. Let go of the anger and embrace the Tuuudah luuuv
