Deployant.com review of the Heuer 02:

All in all, we find the watch to be a resounding success for TAG Heuer in its strategy to position itself as reliable and accessible luxury. With this new model, LVMH enters the fight with Richemont’s Montblanc as the watch industry grapples with this new genre: affordable Haute Horlogerie. Considering the watch’s quality to price, we find it to be of outstanding value.

TAGHeuer has built itself into a very capable manufacturer.

Big statements like the tourbillon are cool but for me, it's all about the details now.
While I'm not completely enamoured by the designs, the stream-lining of the model lines and the defining of the two (avant-garde vs heritage) ranges fixes a lot of overlaps and pricing confusion.
Hopefully this will cement a consistency in future products.

Things that I think will help support the brand-value.
Manufacture three hand movement.
I can't help but think of what could be achieved if they had a nice thin base movement on which to employ modules and indeed, use by itself in their watches. Not sure if the existing infrastructure can support production of it but certainly, that is almost a given must in the current climate.
How cool would it be if they had a Buren-esque micro-rotor movement to call their own? If anything, it would stand out against the Swatch/Sellitta 2824, again, something that is becoming more important (proprietary products that is).

Integrated micro-adjust.
They do have one; it's not very elegant and it never saw production but from what I can tell, it works.
With decent solid bracelets being a key factor in the feel of a watch, it's no longer just about the watch head. To stand with/above the competitors, you need a micro-adjust on the clasp.

Personal Wish.
I'll keep repeating it until it happens:
The 844 case diver needs to be reissued, in the same case width.

Blancpain, Omega and now Oris have proved that the vintage style watch cases that were distinct from the archetypal Rolex look are popular.
It's a no-brainer and seems to be the perfect fit for a Heuer branded diver.

Walked into Manchester AD, have been quoted a 1 year wait for the non-limited model. 80 Units coming to UK this year, all sold.

Anyone else confirm this ?

Accompanying written review at ABlogToWatch with some really great insight and commentary from Ariel Adams:

Whether the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-02T Tourbillon is a singular interesting project or the start of something new and more accessible for high-end horology is yet to be seen. I'm excited about this watch, and I really enjoy wearing it. It ticks off most of the right boxes when it comes to a modern high-end Swiss sports watch, while at the same time (in my opinion) doesn't detract from what makes an even more high-end, hand-decorated fine timepiece appealing. TAG Heuer succeeded at creating a new niche segment without really disrupting others (in my opinion), and for at least that, the brand should be proud.

@Calibre11 This "rotor noise" part sounds a bit ominous. Could you ask Tag Heuer folks if this is a production-wide problem?

I noticed an audible sound to the movement of the automatic rotor – which is a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. You can view the movement and rotor through the back of the case through the sapphire crystal exhibition window. I like that part, but it isn't always the case that I want to hear it.

I would have thought the author would have mentioned that they reviewed a pre-production prototype which has not gone through quality control process. How a fact like this, which is highly relevant to the observation made, is left out is strange.

You can tell by the "X" prefix
