Hello everyone.

Looking at purchasing an S35.406 from a private seller. My main concern is the case back engraving "SWISS QUARTZ", instead of "SWISS MADE", and the lack of serial number. I've just started researching and doing due diligence but cannot find specifics on my two concerns with this watch. Does this watch raise any red flags?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It looks fine 👍
The counterfeits of this model were very bad and noticeable at first glance

Ah ok. Another thing I noticed was that the lumes were a bit bigger on this watch compared to other watches i looked at for reference. Can we attribute that to being an older version of the watch as well?
You'd be surprised by how often they changed things around in those days. Remember, they didn't have a virtual 3d computer representation lol. So they had a lot of bad takes.

Got this brand new from eBay from a very reputable seller. Just want another opinion to ensure watch is legit. All dates match up.

Not very familiar with this model but I don't see any red flags. If you go to the link on the warranty card, the codes should show you a picture of the same watch and give you the warranty information. If so, I guess you're probably all good. I don't quite get the date on the warranty card, though, assuming it is a date? We haven't reached December 2023 yet.

Hi all,

I think my watch is legit, however I would like another opinion. All dates for warranty match etc and watch seems perfect. Cheers.

Thanks. That’s when the warranty expires, which matches up on the website. Was told the Tag warranty was nearly out, and they’ve offered an in-house extended warranty on the watch. Presume that was partly why the watch was priced so well. Only paid £850 (hence my hesitation). Glad you don’t see any obvious signs of it being fake - phew!

Are those fake? Could you advise if you think my watch looks okay? Bought from “eliteswisswatches” on eBay. Any help would be massively appreciated!
Hahaha elite swiss watches, you kidding me 😁 the notorius horse racing guy criminal is back in our thread again. This asshole is infamous for selling fake TAG Heuer, mainly Aquaracer and Formula 1's. Search 'horse racing' in the forum and you will find more. He also has a youtube channel where he changes his channel name regularily (jeez I wonder why), right now he calls the channel 'outatime'

Crazy how polluted ebay has gotten since I stopped helping them.
You should make a comeback on there @jamesbizs
I haven't look at fakes on there for a while but saw another fake quartz 39mm Hydroconquest this week and reported it.
I needn't have bothered and it sold for more £££ than the genuine ones 😡

Hi all,

Just an update. As suspected following Jim's information, the watch is fake. PLEASE BE BEWARE OF EBAY SELLER "eliteswisswatches". You may be potentially buying a fake from him. In my case, the watch I was sent was a fake.

When I called him out on eBay, this is the response I got from him. In my opinion, he's full of s***!

"Morning Matthew , yeh just send back for a refund, i't is no good arguing with the forums self certified experts, one shown to be selling fakes on facebook. i have been stung before and bought in a fake before i knew how to authenticate though.

had this before with a guy who listened to forums..this watch i did't make a profit, i liquidated to buy more stock..my dad was a watchmaker that passed this year, this model has been updated as you will see the bezel on mine is a deeper etched set fonted different deeper blue face..there are examples around of the change.. i did take the back off and checked the movement but didnt have time to film it and pop it on you tube..i am out at the lake district until sunday so will watch for the tracking and refund when it gets back to me..il look into this deeper , these grey market watches il have to check on return the supplier on this one, wasnt from my broker..

similar examples here

Regards Scott."

His real name is SCOTT ALEXANDER, and lives in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

He has also since relisted the watch using the same photos etc. for £1199.99. I imagine he has a box full of these clones and sells them for massive profit. Luckily, I have sent back and will be getting a full refund. However, hopefully this post will stop anyone being stung in the future.

See below link to his eBay post for the watch. I have reported him to eBay for further review so hopefully action will be taken against him.

Funny how these grey market dealers get all 'oh that one wasn't from my usual dealer' when you call them out. I see the grey market was useful for the dealers to dump unsold stock, but more and more it seems like these kind of grey dealers are just selling fakes top to bottom. I know there are some people here who say there are respected grey dealers, but I wouldn't risk it personally. It's not like 99% of us would know one of these new fakes even if we had it in our hands. I know it hurts to pay full retail, but it hurts more to find out you spent 2/3rds of retail on junk.

Totally agreed. I have now gone to my local AD, told them my story and they kindly knocked £100 off the price of my watch. Very happy with my purchase and glad to be totally confident my watch is real. Lesson learned, will only ever buy from an AD going forward! Thanks for everyone’s help, this is a great forum.

Congrats, wise decision to buy from an AD for any F1 or Aquaracer.

Is the genuine one noticeably different to the super-clone can you tell?

Clasp is different. Says Tag Heuer on the inner part of the clasp. Fake didn’t have that. Also the black numbering on the silver bezel round the outside was much thicker on the fake. Bracelet also felt very flimsy in comparison. Blue face on the fake was also darker.

See attached photo of fake watch.

White around the date window looks thicker.... maybe?
Shade of green on logo colour?
Slightly different dial texture?

Very subtle differences though.
