One of the worst ever!

And by worst, you surely mean best!
THE SECOND HAND IS GOING ROUND SO IT IS WORKING BUT I HAVE NOT CHECKED IT FOR ACCURATE TIMEKEEPING.
GLASS IS SCRATCHED AND MARKED, SO MUCH SO THAT I CAN`T DECIDE WHETHER THR DIAL IS JUST DIRTY OR HAS MARKS ON IT. I CAN SEE SOME SPECKS UNDERNEATH, EITHER WAY, IT NEEDS SOME ATTENTION AND IS BEING SOLD AS SEEN.

Thanks for the quick response, this will be my second TH, but as I am not going through an AD this time, I just wanted some confirmation.

Hi all,
I m new to the forum and I just purchased a tag Heuer waz1110.ft8023 from a trusted seller on chrono24 (trusted by them not by myself).
As i am not able to verify the authenticity of the watch using the serial number on the case i was wondering if you could give me your expert opinion on it. What does not convince me is the fact that the band security loop has the brand name engraved on the second ring instead than on the 1st (the one closer to the clasp).
The seller is prompting me to go to a watchmaker as he is sure of the authenticity of the product however due to covid here in Scotland where i live everything is pretty much still closed.
Thanks guys

Is the date wheel centred properly in the date window? Looks like it may not be. Also, is the 3 o'clock hour marker on straight? Again, looks like it may not be, but hard to tell properly from your photos which are mostly slightly out of focus or not taken straight on.

The rubber strap keepers can be easily switched around I guess.

I'm not sure about this one tbh. Does the seller have a good explanation of where they sourced the watch from, assuming they're not an authorized dealer? Presume it didn't come with a TAG warranty.

The strap keepers can be taken off over the clasp so you can easily put that right if it bothers you. Hard to say, it looks real enough, but this is a current model so I would be wary.

As an aside, I wonder when we will stop seeing 'current' models with old style logos? They haven't produced any watches with that logo since 2015 or whenever it was so if you buy a 'new' TAG with an old logo it's already five years old.

Thanks for your reply and sorry for the shaky pics thanks God I m not a surgeon 😀
Yes the watch was provided with warranty card but this being not an authorized dealer has the warranty not registered with tag but with their company only here some clearer pics the date seems pretty centered

Thanks, sorry I didn t get the old log comment. do you refer to the logo on the dial or the one on the back case? Cause from the pics i saw even on authorized dealer and on the tag website the logo seems the same. H
should it look like?

The 'current' logo can be seen here : https://www.tagheuer.com/gb/en/
Note the spacing around the letters of TAG as being the most obvious difference.

I'm not sure when the logo changed to the current logo, or if it was different again between your watch being made and now. But someone will!

Does anyone have a 'history of the TAG Heuer Logo' document/source?

Yes you re right about the change in the logo design. Weird that even the Tag website still advertise it with the old logo maybe did not updated it on this specific product

I think the logo changed in 2015/2016, my Heuer 01 has the new logo on it and I bought that in 2016. I was told by TAG themselves that no watches manufactured after the logo change would have the old logo, so anything with the old logo was made prior to that, even if it's a current model - the watches were made years ago.

I think what they do is, when they run out if they remake it they change it to the new logo. There are some long standing entry level F1 models that now have the new logo.

Understood, do you think that this should be a red flag against the authenticity of the watch i purchased?

Can you spot any other detail that would make you think is not authentic?

Thanks

I really like that the Heuer logo has not really changed in all this time. 😀

Not at all, look in any jewellers window and you will see many, many watches for sale with the old logo...

The problem is, all the fakes out there seem to have one thing in common. The tags have all their stickers on them. SO the question is, where did this guy buy a brand new watch with all tags intact. Show us the box.

Also, got a link to the seller? The best way to tell if a watch is fake, is to see if he's selling other watches that are fake, as some are VERY easy to spot. I don't deal that much with formula 1's, so I have a harder time spotting the fakes.

Please help.
I just bought this from eBay for around £600:
1000 980.013N Quartz
No box/papers.
Nothing on the case back, (some light scratched 5/97or 5197 CAB? no serial number (I understand that’s normal for this vintage).
Only writing I can make out:
“Swiss Parts. Seven 7 Jewels. Thailand Movement”. On green part of the movement
“955114” And a stamp I can’t make out on the silver.
Is it legit?
If it is, is there any way to date it?
OK, I rarely check this thread (as it doesn't fall within the Vintage section 😁) but should do so more and sorry if anything has been concluded already!

This looks OK mostly-the case back is a mystery but would be useful to see a photo. The movement is OK too although should have been stamped TAG HEUER so most likely switched at some point. From memory they are mostly 955.114 or 955.116 movements.
