Wow - there's just too many variables here. First off, I've never seen fake TAG's from this vintage (1000 series) look so good. They always looked terrible. Second, the markings on the caseback are accurate, and the model number looks good (e.g. 980.913N). The price at 679 pounds also seems reasonable (i.e. not dirt cheap) for a quartz TAG of this vintage and condition. And TAG Heuer UK says it's good.

The dial and bezel colour are lighter colour but could this be due to age? As Aquagraph said, how can someone have such a large supply of these watches? And who exactly from TAG Heuer looked at the watch and gave the OK? Would it possibly be someone familiar with a watch of this vintage as El Matarife speculated?

So, the watch could be franken, fake, or genuine. Who really knows? I guess one could ask for TAG Heeur to do a minor quartz service, and if TAG does the service, then I'd say it's good enough, as TAG will not service a fake watch. Bottom line - if it's fake, it's one of the best ones I've seen from this era.

The other possibility of course is that the numbers could be a red herring, do we actually know that Tradevint ever sold those watches, could the feedback be fake? Even if they did, there's still a lot more of these fake looking 1000s around than the genuine looking ones. As I said before if it was 1 or 2 watches you could understand it... but ultimately, somebody at TAG gave it the thumbs up, so it really doesn't matter what we think - officially / legally it is genuine.

I'm no legal expert, but only mine has been authenticated.

True, that doesn't mean they are all genuine. But if yours had been deemed fake, then we would have assumed all the others were wouldn't we?

I dunno... In situations like this, you really need more than one confirmation. we can't go off of what some random service tech decided. He could be some 30 year old apprentice that wasn't even alive when these watches were sold...

And what are the chances that the sellers, all 3, sell a crap ton of confirmed fakes, yet the 1000's just happen to be real?

Very low, as I said - I don't think it's any more genuine than you do, but if TAG say they are then what's the point? eBay is going to listen to TAG over you or I (and rightly so it must be said), I do wonder if the pre-LVMH era was controlled well enough to authenticate, I mean they had a habit of using any old bits that were lying around in the 80s, and even today some of their watches are either this movement or that movement depending on.... availability presumably, but is that any way for a high end brand to carry on? It's certainly making me question the wisdom of buying other than from ADs or direct from boutiques/outlets for anything more than a few hunded quid. I'm glad I've got the majority of my collection already.

I've taken down another 20 accounts. These are all older seasoned accounts too. He's buying the accounts. He must be going insane, trying to figure out how the separate accounts are getting connected, and what he could possibly be doing wrong .Probably different names and address and accounts and IP's and emails. But NOPE, one after another. Every day I find another 6. Not in searches anymore. I have to go deeper. Into feedback. And suggestions.

Wow! Your really taking the flack for exposing the Fake Tag Heuer sellers.
The fake negative feedback can be removed by eBay if you contact them.

Only after the return is closed. Which they are still letting to go through. I guess I didn’t think ahead enough and just burned a good account for selling . And the negative feedback is going to send up red flags for any scammers I buy from. Which is why fastbeat sent me that message. I’m not sure what he thinks he’ll accomplish. How can you sell fakes, and then be so upset with people accusing you of selling fakes. I told him and his supposed lawyer, to contact tag Heuer and ask them what they think.

As far as I'm concerned, that one is real.

And what do you mean by swiss watch?
On the caseback of the fake red 1000’s you can read “SWISS WATCH” instead of “SWISS MADE”
