He told me he was going to take it down while he got it authenticated...

I advised him it was fake and he replied
' New message from: c.wsoles (19)
Both watches I have are identical in colour and both have been to tag and I have had nice conversations with the people at tag about the watches. They are not fake watches. I appreciate you belive your self to be helping but i do not need your help with respect. C.W'

His message to me was slightly more amenable, but he didn't mention he'd already been warned once. Not sure if he's genuine or not...

Have you sent it yet?
No. And I won’t be. Not wasting any more of my time and money with this scammer. I just wish Ebay would suspend these three already. The first watch I bought, eBay sent me a form to fill out and I emailed it back. Done. Refund. No return. It’s illegal to ship counterfeits. But apparently Ebay only cares, if it’s international.

So you're just going to lose your money?

He got a refund.
For the first one. The screen shot was of the second one. There is a return open right now, and he's asking me for proof. I sent the screen shot of the proof from Tag Heuer to the first guy, and he is claiming it's fake, and wants a hard copy.... I told him he'd know all about fakes.

Hey hey hey! Careful now! Lol. Mine was easy. Jonnyv is not. Just removing the crown on mine, will tell any competent tag service person that it’s fake. Easily.

The tubes on these ultra fakes are also a bit off. But not as off as these. I’m not sure if I want to waste my time sending them in yet.

So I've just had email confirmation from the UK service centre for Tag Heuer that, in their opinion the watch I sent in is a genuine Tag Heuer watch.

Despite the fact that googling the model number will show an almost burgundy bezel and face.
Despite the fact the bracelet is light and poor quality.
Despite the fact there is a hair on the watch face.

It's a genuine Tag Heuer.

I have PM'd you Jonny...

So, this is worrying. I guess all bets are off and we should just buy whatever is the cheapest eBay have to offer then.🙁

Anyone considered that maybe it is genuine and Tag changed the colouring slightly midway through production? Or sun-faded? Or redial and replacement bezel?

Not sure about the bracelet but they did used to be lighter in the past and may have some stretch?

The hair only means it's been opened at some point - can't make a judgement on authenticity with that.

That would be fine if it was 1 watch, 50 watches - from two sellers?

The bracelet thing, is because the bracelets on these watches, are hollow links. literally on all of the watches these 4 sellers sold. Older watches used to have these, tho every one of the confirmed authentic ones I've seen, have been solid links. I have some 1500 bracelets, that even with the same bracelet number, one bracelet has hollow links. Well, unless it's fake... who the hell knows anymore. And it's not about stretch. These watches appear to be "new", but aged. All the crystals are perfect, but the bezels on the links all seem to have the same type of damage. Same with bracelets. And ALL the bracelets on ALL the watches, have every single original link, and some even have more than normal. Someone else had told me that one of the formula 1's they got, had removable links on one ENTIRE side of the bracelet.

But umm, yeah. It's POSSIBLE they are genuine, but because 100% of the LINKS they sold, aren't, I'm going to say the rest are fake, just because. And I've seen complaints about their other watches too. Hell, one of the guys had a BLATANTLY fake Omega seamaster. If you sell that makes fakes, you lose any plausible deniability on the other watches.

Well, concerning the red 1000 Series, having seen Jonny's letter myself (thank you Jonny) I am inclined to think this is a waste of time. If TAG say it's real, then it's real, even if it's made of cheese. Either the watches are fake and they are good enough to fool the only people that matter, or they're not. Either way, and my money is that they are, just because of the sheer volume of them, it doesn't matter does it. TAG says it's real, so it's real. Ultimately it's their opinion that carries weight, and ultimately it's their problem if eBay is full of fakes. Unless of course Jonny is a ringer and he sent a real 1000 to TAG to fool us all...::rimshot::

OK, so I'm thinking possibly franken at this point, with a mix of gen and fake parts. Someone getting old, grotty 1000s, installing new crystal, refurb dial/bezel and maybe a fake bracelet? On the other hand, that's quite a lot of "rare" cases with that ref number. Maybe that's fake too but movement is an old one?

You do see this quite a lot with Rolex and Tudor too, though - people making "vintage" watches that are anything but.

Caveat emptor!
