Yep ok you got me.
Must remember not to rush in after a few glasses of wine.
Cheers

Yes noticed that as well. I thought Meters spelled as MTEERS was even a better give away. Not certain if Sapphir might be a real word in a non-English language.

Hi All, I have just spotted this Tag Heuer Monaco 24 Cal 36 for sale near where I live. Just wondering if you Tag experts think it’s genuine. Thanks

A casual glance, without even looking at details, screamed fake.... but you know that now 😀.

Well one needs to either know or have some photos of the real thing to compare it to. At least it's square shaped. At any rate there are a lot of differences between the fake and the real TH. I hate the fake watch sales and people who intentionally buy them to show off and then let them go into the market place.

Lovely. Notice how the screws and date window DON'T form a silly smiling face...

I don’t think so really. The quality is generally the easy give away and this one is awful.

On the high end Rolex fakes then it is a whole different thing, but that’s because there’s more of a market who will pay more due to the cost of originals.

Quality of this Monaco 24 is horrid. Spelling of “Metres”, “Crystal” and “Saphire” all wrong, paint application on the rotor has been done by a child. Date is missing after “Swiss made since”. Rotor looks poorly finished, and attached to a clearly cheaply finished and looking movement. The dial suspension is simply bits of orange plastic placed in the corners. And then lastly etched on the case back is “concept”, which pops out as weird even if you don’t know the watch.

Tag Heuer does not produce poor quality watches, and little details on fakes often give them away, but I this case it’s blatant.

My point is for someone unfamiliar with the brand. The misspellings are really obvious however. I don't have much love for black cased watches regardless. OK on something disposable but too easily compromised on something valuable.

Yes guys you are all 100% right. Hang my head in shame
In my defence the Concept bit had me going as in not on sale to general public and had been layin around somewhere for a long time. Like I said few glasses of wine and my old eyes etc should have enlarged photos before posting here. Thanks to all for your advice

Yes, unfortunately I have seen something similar to this sell on eBay for £700! I have to say I think they'd have been better going the Grand Fakkera route and covering up the innards...

I Googled white and blue Monaco 24 the other day and it was hard to find a photo of a real one... all fake.

Technically the last one is a 'homage' since it doesn't actually say TAG Heuer on the dial.

If you Google the correct reference number, as opposed to a description of the watch, you normally find pictures of the genuine article.

Indeed, that wasn't really the point I was trying to make but...

eBay now verifies the authenticity of luxury watch sales!!

https://www.engadget.com/amp/2018/09/05/ebay-authenticate-for-luxury-watch-sales/

I presume what they are actually doing is charging a premium (20% it seems which is quite a lot) to 'insure the transaction - seeing as they aren't going to inspect every watch sold. So I imagine they are only going to offer this for 'Premium' sellers which means they're basically going to cream 20% of the sales with sellers who probably don't sell fakes anyway. This won't help someone who buys a garbage watch from 'Kev2468' in the slightest.
