Hello all,
I wonder if you could tell me if these are the real deal?
I see them at around € 1000 for complete sets and am in doubt if they can be legit.
All info is welcome.
Thanks in advance!
Bonjour,
I have purchased a watch on Chrono24 who raves about only selling verified items.
Long story short, I have received the watch and am doubting its legitimacy. I see you have plenty of experience and am hoping you could please assist.
The case looks great, good weight & solid. There is a hair/fibre beneath the glass. I also noticed the luminous marking at 12 o'clock is not centered to which the response of the seller was that it is bulging due to the aging.
The movement, 955.112 does not have the "TAG HEUER 1.90" branding on it as I have seen on other photos and not writing on the inside of the rear case.
Outside of the rear case looks legit & "980.13N" stamped.
I am not convinced it this watch is authentic or a good legitimate purchase. Please see the photos attached.
No expert on these models, but that aged tritium is pretty hard to fake. I don't see any obvious issues with the watch. It's possible it had a replacement movement at some point I suppose, and the hair would simply indicate that someone has opened the front of the watch at some point.
It's possible they were relumed I guess. But it can be normal for the lume colour of the hands not to match the dial. The actual metalwork of the hands looks genuinely aged, however. And doubling down on the dial - those tritium lume plots are definitely the real deal. Perfectly normal for a 1980s watch to not get them bang in the middle either.
