Honestly don't know. I have the blue dial of this (WN1112) and that starts TR and a two tone one (WH1153) which starts CZ. I doubt anyone could tell you definitively that your serial number cannot start with PH.

I can understand your concern, but the chances of this being fake are extremely low. Nothing looks off about it and the part code matches the dial.

I purchased this watch off a reliable eBay seller for a good price. I looked through all the catalogs from 1999-2004 and could not find the serial number even remotely close to the one on the back of the watch case which reads (PH6079). I then searched up the serial number on the bracelet (which I was told was original) and it came out to be a 2001 Blue dial Tag Heuer 2000. So the reference number is from a 2001 Tag Heuer black dial seen here and the bracelet is from the same year but a blue dialed watch. What confuses me if the serial number on the watch casing. Google isnt telling me anything can someone help me out? What is PH6079? No watch exists with that number. I was told it was a unique serial number but now Im being told there are no unique serial numbers that Tag makes with PH in the beginning
I love these! I’m wearing one of my 2000 Exclusives as I type this lol. Congrats on the watch! These models are among my favorite models from the brand.

I’ve bought this Aquaracer WAY201A, pre-owned from Goldsmiths and comes with their 2 year warranty.

It doesn’t come with the warranty card and when I search the serial number on Tag, it says no results. I’ve searched the web all night to compare it etc… and the watch seems legit to me. Just the fact the serial number doesn’t come up and the fact it doesn’t have a warranty card is a worry. Reading through this forum, I’m now wondering if the watch is from a grey market, so was never registered.

Just looking for peoples opinion on it (as you’re the experts), what do you think from the photos?

I would like to send it to Tag to authenticate but how do I go about doing this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Caught this one on the bay. Getting educated

How were you able to tell this was a reproduction from that picture? Is it because the bezel pip doesn't appear to be exactly centered in the triangle?

Also, I have a gem tester that can easily detect this difference between sapphire and glass crystals. Do today's AR fakes go to great enough lengths as to use sapphire crystals too?

Yes of course good fakes use sapphire crystal 👍 many youtubers use those gem testers to "prove" that a watch is genuine which is proper bullshit. If a 100 dollar Chinese alibaba brand can use sapphire for their crystals, why couldn't Chinese criminals do the same when making well made fakes 👍

Thanks, good to know this! I'm trying to gain knowledge here since I'm a diver in need of a new manual bottom time backup and just happen to be looking for the same WAY111C.BA0928 model that's pictured above. I already own several Tag watches and I really like the style (especially its 41mm x 12mm size), but this model was recently discontinued and I haven't found stock at any authorized dealer locations yet. So I'm trying to educate myself on fake detection. It appears that bi-color super luminova indexing is also widely faked now. So color, bezel pips, hang tag fonts, and bracelet pin/tubes appear to be all that there is between a really good fake and the real thing. What about the movement? This is a quartz watch most likely containing an ETA Caliber movement. Do they fake these as well?

Hi.

I just acquired an Aquaracer WAB2010 from a friend and I can´t find the warranty on the TAG portal based on the Serial number of the watch. It starts with YQ than 4 numbers... YQXXXX. Does it look like a valid Serial Number for an old 2008-2010 Aquaracer? I don´t have the warranty card unfortunatelly. Thanks! Sidnei

My guess is that most well made fakes use genuine calibers. How much is the bulk price for a mass produced quartz movement? 10 dollars?

Yeah, the ETA Caliber F06-111 that's most likely the movement in this watch goes for about $35 for qty 1. You'd think that many people might literally not care if they received a fake this good lol. Unfortunately, I can't have my watch imploding at depth... Great thread to learn how to recognize good fakes here. I have a WAY111C coming in from a reputed wholesaler in Canada next week. They have a seven day no questions asked return policy so I decided to take a chance on the last one they had in stock. Hoping I can recognize if its fake or not...

Hi just dropping in to see if a consignment find is real or not. Either way I love the watch so I’m happy with what I paid. Has some cool features like the see-through back and GMT airplane hand. No serial number except one area where it may have been buffed out and nothing similar on eBay or Google photo search so totally thinking it’s fake but just wanted to confirm either way if possible. Thanks for any info!

@FloridaFinder , just compare the bracelet with these pictures of a genuine TAG Heuer 6000

I definitely see the differences! The lack of a badge right below the dial on the bracelet worried me most. I apologize I’m not anywhere close to an expert, but without the same features, I wasn’t sure if it was a different series from the 6000. It definitely is trying to emulate that though. I can tell that now. Thanks again for the response.

It appears to me that another giveaway would be the fact that the crystal cyclops isn't centered above the date.
