Can anyone help. Seen this on ebay and very tempted to bid. Only thing worrying me is I've had a look thorough old tag heuer catalogues and can't seem to find one with the same dial. Want to go for it but something seems off. Does anyone have any knowledge of these models? Hard to find much info online. Many thanks.

From the 1987-1988 catalogue, but it looks like the sale has ended?
Hello

Thanks for reply. I did see that one but the one for sale on eBay had gmt on the dial. Can't seem to find one in a catalogue with exactly the same dial as that. Makes me wonder if it's a redial/franken watch? Seems to still be for sale as of now.

Here's another one with a GMT dial and Mercedes hands.
This model was a carry over from Heuer into the TAG era, wouldn't be too hung up on these details to be honest, it's entirely possible that TAG switched the hands when they ran out of the old ones. Company was in a right mess in the early days, and used whatever parts they had (plenty of TAG watches with Heuer clasps and backplates for example). Not like now when it's expected that everything must be just so. Makes it difficult to ascertain authenticity I know, but these watches were just watches back then.

I keep looking for the Airline with the funky bracelet with the city names on, but it's always too short and I doubt TAG would have links.

Didn't we just talk about the presence (or absence) of a serial number being insufficient evidence to verify real vs. fake? LOL.

Honestly, the best evidence you can gather at this point is verification that this watch was purchased from an AD. If you have the receipt and date of the purchase, you can even go the extra mile and contact the AD to confirm. That would be much more valuable information than a SN that could have been used on several fakes. The most important factors at this point are the watch's provenance and the reputation of the seller.

As mentioned previously, there are just too many "high quality" fakes of the current AR and F1 series so one cannot be too careful. Good luck!

Update: I bought the watch yesterday after an inspection of the original AD receipt. We didn’t call the AD but that is an option as the AD is a localish chain who has an excellent reputation. All of the tell tale signs from earlier posts on fake ARs were missing. If I keep it I’ll send to TH for verification to settle it. I’ve got no risk as this is a well renown local jeweler who has a sterling reputation having been in business for 75 years and he will take it back if it turns out to be fake. Like others have said, he has a ton to lose if he is selling fakes and the word gets out. He deals a lot in used high end watches and this is a profitable part of his business.

@Evan G congrats on your new AR! I think you are pretty safe from your description of your jeweler plus the evidence that the watch was originally from an AD. More than ever, buy the seller - which you did. Please post some pics up!!!

Is this a ladies? Look at the crown compared to the dial....
No information yet. I asked for more pictures and details.

The hour hand looks strange. But dial and crown looks like the red one you poste right before me on this thread.

I'm going to say this is a WD1410, which is probably about 25mm
