Die Hard

+ Baddies synching their chronos.

Funny thing about that is I don't think the 3000 was ever sold on a strap.

Maybe this was just done for the movie.

Magnus Walker showing off the 44mm sports Carrera. Must be sponsorship deal as he's tagging TAG Heuer (capitals for you @Aquagraph) and he usually wears vintage Porsche Design or Omega.

Speaking of Magnus Walker (who is a Porsche Collector), maybe it’s just me but I find his logo exceedingly similar with Heuer / TAG Heuer 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Continuing the Le Mans fever pitch weekend, saw this interview with Le Mans Legend 5-time Winner, Racing Driver Derek Bell sporting a Heuer Monaco 👍 and a picture or his Le Mans winning Race Car (Heuer) 😉

PS: He mentioned he drove Le Mans races with other Heuer race legends Jo Siffert, a 2-time winner & Jacky Ickx, a 6-time winner 😲

Nice! Bell has his named after him 1163 Autavia, he supposedly got from Steve Mcqueen, laying around at home somewhere. He's usually spotted with Breitling or Rolex though, so I'm surprised to see the Monaco on his wrist. If he did come home, TAG Heuer should definitely explore a heritage ambassadorship 👍

Funny, to me it's the opposite. More often than not, I've seen Bell wearing the Monaco as opposed to Breitling or Rolex. Maybe it's just the videos I watch.

Interesting piece by Hodinkee

I remember coming across an article about Derek Bell when I was doing my readings on the Heuer Viceroy Autavia 👍👍

Thanks for sharing sir @Yago !! All the more interesting to see the Autavia as the ultimate racer’s chronograph
back then with so many racers donning the Autavia. 😉😉 I think the modern day versions of the Carrera now carries the spirit of the yesteryears original Carrera and Autavia.

Derek Bell’s Autavia predates the Viceroy Autavia but has almost the same color and design scheme 😲😲

Yes but the key feature are the ridged markers, a pretty big deal. Changes the perception of the dial dramatically. Viceroys can be easily spotted as they have the 1-12 hour subdial. Previous Autavias like the Bell have the 3-6-9-12 subdial. It has been debated the OB might have been originally proposed for the Viceroy promotion.

In that case, shouldn't we be calling the modern re-edition a "Derek Bell" and not a "Viceroy"?

Good point. The hands are from the Viceroy and since this is more iconic everybody just went with that. I don’t think TAG Heuer referenced it that way.
