My points are literally that this is people’s jobs, with their day job being actors at the end of the day. In my humble opinion this shouldn’t be treated as anything more than what they are honest and upfront about doing. They are Ambassadors…who are paid to sell watches…
They are also payed for what clothes they wear, sunglasses, jewellery, accessories like handbags and so on. All in a successful marketing business of making people go "oh wow this celebrity loves this brand I need to buy something from them too".

I certainly agree with your points but what I interpreted you as saying is because they are getting paid to promote the brand, they can't love it on their own or have a passion for it. If that's the case then, by default you can't love what you do for a job because your getting paid for it...

All that said, yes, they are ambassadors that get paid to promote the brand and help sell watches, totally agree.

Or they’re making sure they learn from his mistake. 😉
Oh, am not suggesting that I know they are not definitely genuine. You could well be right.

I am just putting it out there that these alleged candid shots, showing them wearing the brands that pay them, might not actually be so candid like many of the above posts suggesting it’s fact.

Reading some of the older interviews from when Dempsey had just started as their ambassador, he mentions he wasn’t aware of Steve McQueen’s link to the Monaco until after he joined TAG Heuer. He is also quoted as saying he starting to look at vintage Monaco’s in interviews in 2020/21. That doesn’t sound like someone who has been into the brand on a personal level before joining their paid up members.

Didn’t ever say that those things were mutually exclusive. I just said that none of the posted social media posts can be trusted to honestly be able to 100% say either way. I was never the one saying that my opinion was the only opinion.

If you asked for my gut feeling, I think that Alexandra Daddario is just doing her job and promoting whatever she’s paid for, be it Movado, TAG Heuer or whatever brand follows.

As for Patrick Dempsey, I think it definitely started out as a paid role but that he found it real easy to do, as he is a motorsport fan and participant and there were sponsorship links already. Since then, I think he’s warmed to the Monaco somewhat, but we will never really know as he is still paid to be seen wearing TAG Heuer no matter what. Let’s put it another way, it’s not a hardship for him to keep being photographed wearing a different Monaco every time when he is likely to be gifted them to keep whilst still paid handsomely in the process.

Is that a fair interpretation?

Totally. This is what my previous point about being naive was about. I just phrased it badly by applying my sense of humour as I misread the banter. Simply as that really.

Someone took offence. I apologised publicly and privately. Said person ignored both. Nothing more I can do.

Sometimes words and phrasings don't always land with the intended purpose. Especially in online format. It's a real pity that this has resulted in the loss of a Valued and respected contributor to this forum.

It’s a shame he hasn’t posted in a bit, I agree, but he’s been viewing plenty in the meantime.

So it looks like Dempsey was indeed a Tag Heuer fan prior to becoming an Ambassador.
A photo from 2006 Indy shows him wearing a Monaco. Well before his Ambassadorship.

Fair play, I did put the challenge out there and this does suggest he may have been a fan back then.

Real question is whether he’s also showing his love for Rock and Republic jeans by donning a matching t-shirt and cap whilst at the TAG Heuer sponsored 2006 Indy race. 😀

In all seriousness, I have been looking too and have found this interview, with video, where he says that he bought a Monaco in the ‘70s to race at Spa, which also suggests he was a fan. Interesting video where he describes the way Jack Heuer ran sponsorship and product placement and how you get in “the club”.

Anyway, as I said in the post you quoted, it’s not mutually exclusive and there is room for both things, but I still find it difficult to differentiate between real love for a brand and someone being paid to represent them.

Well that's the point isn't it. You're supposed to find it difficult. Modern 'influencing' is all about pretending to be natural, pretending to like a brand. Do you believe Cara Delavigne loves all 318 brands she represents? Probably not. Jean Claude Biver said he only wanted to work with people who loved TAG Heuer, but I don't think anyone ever really believed Gigi Hadid ever loved TAG Heuer and now she represents a different brand. But then again... does that mean anything? If I loved TAG Heuer but Rolex offered me a £1m to wear a Date Just and post on my Instagram that I loved Rolex I probably would. Plus maybe you love one brand at one time in your life and then you notice a different brand and start to like that instead? Or you get more famous and attract 'better' offers. Jacob Elordi clearly didn't 'love' TAG Heuer enough... though I can't say I'm sorry about that.

But anyway, I thought it was only me that was retarded enough to only like one brand, why is it that these famous people are only supposed to like one brand for their entire life?

That said Patrick Dempsey seems to be as genuine as they come... and Ingrida at the Oxford St boutique told me he is the nicest man in the world.

I do agree that it’s more likely with Dempsey, with my posts aimed more at Daddario.

Thought I had seen that before, not so lately in 2018 it seems.

Definitely a legend though!

^I believe it's the Gray Man Carrera.

Golden Globe winner Kieran Culkin was also wearing TAG Heuer, the blue Carrera glassbox.

So he is wearing a wrist watch while in character.

If we assume it's a Heuer, it could be a black dial ref. 404 or 2444 or 3336.

A close up of Dempsey's watch in Ferrari (the movie). Looks like ref. 3336NT.
