All right, I've incorporated a couple touches from the stopwatch.

Still a tad messy with the checkered box track but I like it. I also added the BoR bracelet which I think it belongs on.

I think the red chapter ring is too much if I'm honest. I prefer a cleaner, simpler Carrera.

Red or checkers, not sure about both now, starting to intrude on face too much?

So do I, but I'm not sure whether the checkered-flag motif would work that well on the chapter ring.

Could be, but I think the 42mm model is big enough to support it. If anything it'd decrease the visual size of the 42mm to ~38-40mm

Not like 😉.

I assume that is some sort of limited edition?

@Aquagraph have you got this one on your list of limited runs?

Sure have... 😁

I was testing all day version4 on the Connected Modular 45, and I love this dial 🥰

How would black hands on the white* dial look?

* Or red, just a definite contrast to the main dial.
Tried... but I think current silver hands look better, with red in second position (black hands are not easy to read over the black subdials)

I found another reason to move away from the rectangles (too used already in other brands) in @Ara ’s Carrera concept, and use the squares to make it a more unique, personal, original, and vintage “Heuer box” design 👍

This is another example (as the Tintin Omega) where the checkered rings are used as chronograph markers because it doesn’t have any outer ring with markers, but Ara’s Carrera concept does it

^Sorry, but those pics only convinced me further that I'm definitely in the rectangles camp. Not only for readability, but I just find it easier on my eyes. The squares in your Connected mock up are too busy and actually make me a little dizzy. (As they say, to each his own.)

Yes, of course! 😁

I was testing both versions on my wrist (thanks to the TH Connected) a full day each, and I clearly prefer the version with squares... maybe it could look busy when the picture is small, but on the wrist is fine

The comparison in bigger size:

Even I'm struggling with this. I'm fooling around with it on my end, and I like the squares and the 1:1 connection to the red racing box. But I like the rectangle too -- the elongation reminds me of speed.

Maybe the solution is a "squartangle."

e.g. if we're going by an equal parts ratio formula

1:1 = square
2:1 = rectangle
1.5:1 = squartangle (which is still a rectangle but 1/2 way between a 1:1 and 2:1 shape ratio)

The squartangle, are you in marketing by any chance Ara? 😉
Perhaps the squartangle could be fitted to half seconds of the chronograph? So matching two division markers. The H02 beats at 4 hertz so 8 movements of the chronograph hand every second, hence the 4 division markers. That way the squares could be a visual aid in reading the correct timing. 1/8th, 2/8th,... to a full second. Make sense?

That would mean 120 squares per ring... when V4 version has 100 squares per ring. I think with 120 squares per ring it looks too busy, but I like it more than version with 60 rectangles

120 squares per ring (matching half seconds):

100 squares per ring:

60 rectangles per ring, matching full seconds:
