Obviously I'm fairly new to all this....

But it seems to me that this is pretty overpriced, even though it is (I think) a pretty rare model.

It also seems like the seller is trying far too hard.

Hey Folks,

If this is discussed somewhere please let me know. Is the authentication process that Ebay uses any good?

Thanks,
Robert

Yes and moral of the story there is

Never buy luxury goods from nasty platforms like Ebay and Amazon, who both look the other way and allow for criminals to work in peace on their sites. We have seen examples of AD's and TAG Heuer service centers confirming fakes as real so I wouldn't trust an "authentication process" provided by the crooks who run Ebay

I read a lot of that thread prior to posting the question. I don't see where it answers my specific question.

Anyone actually see a test of the Ebay authentication? As is sometimes done with car repairs, one takes in a known product and see what they say. In this case one would take in a very good fake and see if they pronounce it real.

Thanks,
Robert

I recently bought a couple of watches from ebay UK and got through authentication (my Monaco Python and a Tudor Bronze). I believe the authenticators only cross checked the watch details and condition against the advertisement. I don't think anyone opened up the watch to check what was inside. With regards to time, the Monaco Python took longer (about 3 days) at the authenticators, assuming that this was an older watch and might require a senior person checking. My Tudor Bronze was authenticated within a day.

Ok, i may finally have got my first 'investment' piece. Having bought a series 1000, 1500, 2000, 4000, F1 ( genuine) and Kirium, all from ebay, with no papers, I've just bought a genuine 6000 chronograph off ebay - papers, boxes et al. Just needs a battery after 'years in a draw'. - At an exceptionally good price if it is genuine and kicks into life with a new battery.
Fingers crossed.
Next on the wishlist - a Blue Monaco H02.
If i achieve that without my wife leaving I WILL believe there is a God.
