Actually that's pretty much what I do with my WAY208C. 🙄

Any excuse to repost a pic of that one

Quick question about the movement @abrod520, as you have the same model Seamaster and Aquaracer. How does the winding feel between these two watches. Just checking as I have only ever round these two watches and the Aquaracer feels totally different to the Seamaster. Normally I wouldn’t question this, as they are totally different watches, but with the issues with the Calibre 5 I thought I would ask. Aquaracer winding feels heavier and I can feel/hear it when winding. Seamaster is barely noticeable on both in comparison.

Also, how many full turns if the crown will get me from zero to fully wound? Generic guidance on TAG Heuer’s website suggests 30-40 times. Is this full turns? I notice when I wind by hand each time I move the crown equates to about a half a turn, so would need to double that figure?

Well the Seamaster is an in-house movement from Omega, so it's no comparison really. It is of course much smoother and nicer than the Sellita base in the Aquaracer.

As for full wind from stopped, I'd say it's probably about 60 turns while I wind it. Same thing here, I'm not sure if each winding motion is half to 2/3rds full turn of the crown.

As you wait for the winder, you could always just wear it 😀
(The Seamaster, in my experience, does not object to hand-winding)

I would cease now and wait for the winder. Ideally don't change the date either. Just leave it in the box and look at it from time to time

If only the winder did anything for my calibre 5!

That black WAY still looks fantastic. Amazing how different it looks to the night diver

Can't you do the classic Seiko start of the engine? Just shake it like a retard til it has enough power to be worn

Cheers. I totally expected there to be a difference, but just being overly paranoid whilst making sure!

it’s been on my wrist since I bought it, aside from overnight. I was just getting it fully wound to check out how it keeps time.

I remember my old U Boat, which used ETA (rather than sellita) but that also had a scrap sound when winding, compared to my Panerai and now Tudor - which is buttery smooth, the difference is noticeable.

I'm sure thats all it is, especially as your Seamaster is in house . Although I've heard mixed reviews regarding winders, if not wearing a watch, then I prefer to let it run down, and wind it slightly before wearing it & I find wearing it that day is more than enough.

I used to feel like that about winders... I don't leave any watches on winders all the time because I wear them so infrequently that it's pointless. But I do sometimes use the winder to get the watch going and then just change the date.

I plan to alternate between Seamaster and Aquaracer regularly so only time change will be infrequent. Date as needed each month obviously.

Lots of great advice though, thank you again.

Yeah the only issue there is the very short power reserve on the Cal 5. 42 hours or so IIRC

(the Seamaster meanwhile is advertised at 55 hours but I have personally seen approx. 65-70 hours at times when I've gone away for a long weekend and come back to find it still running)

Don't be silly, surely you will buy plenty of more watches. This is just the beginning my friend.

This is going to be it for a fair while, but no doubt not the last in the long run.

One week on and it’s fair to say that I definitely bought the right watch. Loving the flash of colour when it peeps out from under my sleeve. Looks a different shade of orange when light catches it differently, all of which are equally as great. Bracelet is nice and comfortable too, now that I have it dialled in with equal links showing each side on the adjustable clasp.

Amazingly, it’s also made me appreciate my Seamaster a lot more too. Completely different watches but having the blast of orange on the Aquaracer has made me enjoy the more under the radar look of the black Seamaster.

Seamaster was left to run down completely earlier in the week, so I could fully wind and see how long the actual reserve is. Something I have not done until now, as been on my wrist for a year. It’s currently 52 hours in without being touched in its box. Still running with 4 secs gain over the whole period.

Any guesses on the exact reserve it holds? No prizes, other than the coveted get one up on your fellow forum member fuzzy feeling…

No apologies necessary whatsoever. It was kind of you to message me when back in stock. I think I bought the better of the two options, especially with the 20% discount I got, which closed the price gap considerably.

Still like the Night Diver mind you, but it will remain the one that got away.

Awesome that you're enjoying the Orange Aquaracer. How do feel its 43mm size wears compared to your 42mm Seamaster?

My guess on your Seamaster's power reserve is 55 hours. I own one too but have never measured its reserve. Mine gains almost zero time if I keep it on a winder at night.

That’s impressive, fair play.
