We'd ran this exercise early last year on the Omega Forum, but the goal was a single brand 3-watch collection. So this was my entry:

The trilogy, of course but with a wrinkle - a 2914, 105.012, and a modern 300M. Covers just about any situation View attachment 1695282

I suppose I'd tweak it a little though and replace the Railmaster with the 2447NT

So if we're talking single brand, which 3 Heuer/TAG Heuers would be your pick for a daily use trio?

If @kappa_md had asked which 3 Heuers/TAG Heuers for daily use in the wild, I would be able to give an answer. While by no means easy to limit my collection to just three, I think I'd survive with only the following (in no particular order).

60th Anniversary Carrera

Monaco McQueen

Team Ikuzawa

Great TAG Heuer TRIO choices sir Michael @Mspeedster ! 👍 Truly excellent!

If you will ask me about my TRIO for the “Heuer” Re-editions, it’s almost identical to yours except for the Carrera Ikuzawa. I’d pick the Viceroy Autavia Heuer 02 for me 😉

Panda Carrera (CBK221H)

SMQ Monaco (CAW211P)

Viceroy Autavia (CBE2118)

I'm pretty happy at the moment with my current trio (after having a few odd watches over time):

Tag Heuer 844/5 1000 Professional: my 18th birthday gift from my father, I've never really been without it, but it's not always been a runner.

Rolex 5513 Submariner: Inherited from my father: his daily watch for the last 50 years of his life (bought in 1972).

Tag Heuer 1000 Pro "Mongrel" 980.043 Dial in a regular steel case: this is currently my "beater": by which I mean that if I know i'm going to be doing any form of manual labour, it's the one I reach for in the morning, otherwide the other two are grabbed off the winder pretty much at random.

The only thing I feel I'm missing is a Chronograph, I've had a Swatch Irony Chronograph before and enjoy them, so just keeping an eye out for something that makes me feel good. Would be nice to have a 3rd "brand" in the collection: it may end up being a MoonSwatch (for as long as it lasts) but the Speedy "look" is one that I like.

The “Daily” proposition is because you ONLY have THREE in your wonderful collection! Not necessarily daily per se but these TRIO / TRINITY are part of the rotation of which you have 😉

Okay, I guess this makes sense. In fact probably a good thing - if I only have three I have to wear them.

But it's still hard. Because then if money is no object I want something crazy like a Flying 1000, but would I dare wear it? But then if money is no object I guess I am not working so don't have to worry about wearing it to work...

But then it would be boring to just pick three from my own collection wouldn't it.

I think they need to be watches that you could realistically buy at some point. Otherwise I’ll take a Monaco V4, a Space Dweller and a bb58. Maybe the ‘money no object’ trio is another list?

edit: on reflection, money no object Id take the v4 over the only watch

Money no object at all is a much more boring exercise, the realistic achieveable ultimate trio is a more intreaging concept

That's a tough question to answer fully. I know the first two would be a 2447N and a 3646, as my 'dress' and 'vintage chrono' slots. The 'modern GADA diver' is tougher though as I wouldn't quite want an Aquaracer if I were so limited. Maybe a 42mm Carrera variant or the Autavia Viceroy edition. I'd have to think on that one more!

not come across the Space Dweller before. How is this different from an early Explorer.

What about watches like the Blue Carrera Sport 160th model and the Monaco 24 Gulf? You've often mentioned how much you want those, except for the price. They're much more reasonable as daily wear watches compared to something like a Flying 1000.

Main difference is it says Space Dweller not Explorer on the front. It was a 1963 Japan only release to celebrate the Mercury space missions, it was not a sales success so only a few dozen exist. In the money no object @Aquagraph world, they are relatively cheap, maybe $150-200k today.
