I found this photo today of what my collection looked like in March 2007, about 2-3 years after I started getting "into" watches.
    March 2007.jpg
Starting from the back, and left to right we have:
    - TAG Heuer Targa Florio
    - TAG Heuer Monaco
    - TAG Heuer 4000 quartz (my first good watch)
    - Heuer Carrera re-edition
    - TAG Heuer Autavia
    - Heuer Carrera 1553N
    - Heuer Monaco re-edition
    - Heuer Monza re-edition

You can see that I was big on the re-editions, which for me were a great way of getting into the vintage style, without needing to worry about sourcing vintage.

Fast forward three years to 2010:

Wow, that got out of control fast! At this time I still had the McQueen TAG Heuer Monaco, the Carrera re-edition, the 4000 and the Monza (and still have each of those today), but otherwise, all of the re-editions had gone to fund the new ones.

And today? Apart from the TAG watches named above, I have one vintage Heuer and one newer TAG Heuer

Collection is a lot smaller than it was, but who knows whether it will expand again....

Good story. I need to write up a post with mine I have two very special vintage-themed HEUER Monacos arriving next week.

    What a great collection.
I'd love to add a Montreal to mine, although now I'm "saving-up" for a Rally-Master set for the green machine.

What's the model to the left of the white dial Camaro? Doesn't really look like any of the other families

Now those two look freaking cool, is that second one still a re-edition? have they just used really nice looking tritium substitute on the hands and dial?

Great post. I sold my Autavia Viceroy but just picked up the 300SLR. I'm drawn to vintage, but I think I'm better off owning the reissues with my limited knowledge and patience.

Thanks Expat. I've always said that vintage isn't for everyone- there are some really good reasons for going down the reissue path. That SLR is a great watch- beautiful dial!

Beautiful picture! Mine is in transit, crossing the Atlantic from Paris. The silver dial is also in transit and it should be delivered on Monday.

Enviable collection (so far no doubt) David. Only 3 for me so far in a few years, but it's an expensive hobby as some will attest. I have Carrera 1887 blue dial, Link Calibe S black dial and Calibre 16 Automatic Chronograph.

The challenge is trying to hang onto favourites whilst pursuing others, or having to sell to fund the next one. I'm hoping to add the same one as you, Jack Heuer 81 maybe next year.

Thanks George, but most of the ones you see above are gone...I'm down to single figures!

Yes, you're right on the expense. I used to have a "one in, one out" policy, but sometimes it was hard to stick to this ;)
