Probably Tsunoda
Probably Tsunoda
If Lawson and Tsunoda swap seats, and Lawson starts beating Yuki, and Yuki has difficulty with the Red Bull: then it calls into question Red Bull's overall strategy of building a car around the driving style of one driver, who, while outstanding in his field, is, nonetheless an outlier to the general trend of how F1 drivers drive.
It's a bit like Mazda going down the rotary engine route for their endurance racers. Yes, they did well, but it wasn't sustainable and eventually was a dead end.
Verstappen may well win the Driver's Championships, bit Red Bull aren't going to win anymore Constructor laurels if they can't find another driver who drives in the same way as Max.
Next year's new regs will hopefully balance this somewhat, but Red Bull are hopefully (for their sake), questioning the wisdom of putting all their eggs in one basket....
Albon said driving the Red Bull is like playing a gaming console with the sensitivity turned on full. I haven't played a game console for a long time but I get the idea. I can understand why that would be a nightmare to drive, if every tiny input to the wheel resulted in a large movement on track. I can see why that what make the car fast, but the level of concentration required to handle it must be horrendous.
I followed F1 very closely in the 1980s and 90s, lost interest (and didn't have much time) in the first two decades of the current century, and have been getting into it again over the past couple of years. Yes, this can happen to a guy born in 1955.
This discussion is fascinating!! How would you describe the "building the car for Max" approach? What does it mean that Max likes a car "sharp". For a novice (now aged 69), how would you describe his driving style?
Love this chat!!
Funnily enough, I'm similar. I watched F1 up to Hill's career, then life got in the way, and I've only become interested again in the last few years.

Be careful what you wish for. RB's #2 seat can end careers.
