It wasnt if but when Checo got the elbow, sure his replacement has been thought out carefully, by management and Max, at least I hope so.

RED BULL: This guy has only done 11 races, let's put him in the 1st team with four times WDC Max Verstappen

RED BULL: This guy has done 18 races and he still hasn't got outqualified Max, who else have we got?
Given Lawson's performances and attitude, I think 2025 is going to be very interesting...

Maybe. I guess it depends whether the 2025 Red Bull is as hard to drive as Checo made it look in 2024.

More like it depends on whether or not Lawson likes the car setup the way Max does..... (because it'll be configured around Max, have no doubt of that.)

Surely you build the car around your best hope and bring in a second guy with a similar driving style to back him up and maybe even advance design?

Well, you would think so. Makes no sense to pick someone who doesn't match up and have to develop the car in two different directions

That does assume you can "find" another driver who has a similar style. I seem to remember reading either early this year, or last year, that there was only one other driver who stated he liked the car set up in a similar fashion to Max. Can't remember who though, might have been Hamilton or Alonso?

Well, obviously there's Yuki. Who's paid his dues and outperformed both Liam and Daniel. For whatever reasons, seems like Horner had made up his mind a while back that Liam was going to be next in line.

Maybe they think it's better to keep Yuki where he is? And maybe it's better for him too... he's a bit hot headed and I imagine he would struggle with the mental side of trying to beat Max.

Agreed.
To be honest - I think that's what holds Yuki back. He's fast, but he's not yet .... matured.
Lawson has (from what i've seen/heard anyway), shown a much more mature attitude and that has probably boosted his image in the eyes of the Red Bull decision makers.

Perhaps Lawson has youth on his side in that he hasn’t ‘settled’ into a style or preference and so can still adapt to a nose or tail happy car?

With the past driver changes there since Max started, I think they are more careful now selecting the right driver, Yuki is not that imho.
