Why the Heuer Heritage Panda Carrera made me pull out my wallet (credit card)? 😉

As an owner of the Ice King, and a couple of Heritage Heuer / Re-edition pieces, the 2447 SN Panda Carrera is probably one of the most beautiful and coolest Carreras ever made 😎

The Panda Carrera 2447 SN has some sort of legendary mystical cult status behind it. It’s a beautiful watch in itself, period. And according to sir @Jeff Stein OTD, it is not worn by any racer/celebrity, only a relative few were made and was not even placed in the Heuer catalog 😲

And also, this 2447 SN is part of the list in the Heuer Superstars / Holy Grails Book by sir Richard Crosthwaite & sir Paul Gavin 📖 I have no doubt a Reverse Panda (2247 NS) will also come out later this year since both are prominently featured on the book and tease on the TH 60th Anniversary video 😗

This one shows a compare of original vs. remake, which is pretty darn close if you ask me (aside from the larger size and silver sunray dial)

I'm not sure they could have reproduced the exact Eggshell dial from the original.
That said I'm more than happy with the result.
Right, who knows how much of the egg shell color is yellowed patina vs original color? Perhaps when new in the '60s, the color was more silver and less cream like back then.

Can't wait to get mine to see the color with my own eyes.

Exactly spot on.
I think this release has been universally a success. Will be sold out in another day or so.
While picking up my pieces yesterday the Boutique Manager did mention that there was no build up to the announcement. That it was intentional to keep it low key.
Only people like us on this forum had an idea it was coming.

I was watching this video, and towards the latter half, a female voiced person mentioned it is a “cushion case” watch. The 2447S / SN are not cushion case Carreras right? 😕

Maybe she was referring to the Monza. The video was clipped.

But it was clearly showing the Carrera 😕 Anyway, it’s kinda misleading for those who know. Those who doesn’t know, it doesn’t matter 😗

Yes I believe the female voice was talking about the Carbon Monza. She said the cushion case was an inherited design going back to the early 2000s (which we know is when the current cushion case style was used on the Monzas of that era). She goes on to say there's a particular way to display the counters, which is again more relevant to the Monza.

I also think the female is talking to a different audience in the same room, while the Time+Tide guys were still filming the wrist roll parts. But yes, it makes it confusing.

Original was warm grey. Difference between warm and steel grey of same year 2447 pandas side by side.

I was referring to the dial of the vintage 2447sn in the Monochrome article, which has more yellow tone to it than the picture you showed.

If TAG tried to replicate its color, it would be hard for them to know what it looked like when new. If they replicate it as is, it's kind of like fauxtina on the whole dial color isn't it?

A blog to watch may have got things a little wrong also.
As @Yago pointed out early on the First Generation didn't come in Panda.

They simply used the same dials as the 160th. Don't know about aged warm or yellow tones but the original was more white. They went the extra mile with the hands and hour markers so the dial colour and finish is bit of a shame. I'm a real nag about these things. I still like it a lot though and salute everyone who got one. One might end up in my collection at one point.

Yes I understand. But that wasn't my point. I too wish they would've tried to replicate the color and finish of the original better. But perhaps it's not so easy, since these vintage pieces have aged patina.

The problem is either replicating the vintage Heuer 2447 SN in its original form or replicating the aged version of it? 😉 To me it doesn’t matter, as long as the design elements are faithful to the inspiration, it doesn’t even have to be a 100% copy. So the relative increase in size to 39mm and width to 14mm is not an issue for me. A non watch person or a non Heuer/TAG Heuer watch enthuasiast both can pass these modern Heuer Heritage as vintage I guess 😉
