Case size isn’t the issue, nor is the height of the plexi, the caseback is. Sunk in skin in bottom pic. Shave two mm off that and remove rotor.
I would love this watch even more if it had a manual wind H02 to reduce thickness and also a plexi crystal to reduce the distortion/milky ring. But it is what it is, and is about as good as it gets for current TAG Heuer.

And since it is current TAG Heuer:

- I doubt that we will ever see a plexi again in their heritage line-up. Which - for me personally (!) - is perfectly fine: Love a warm plexi on a vintage, which I will treat gently anyway; but prefer the reassurance of sapphire on a new watch that costs as much as a new motorcycle.

- The hand-wound idea sounds always great on paper, but I’m unsure how big the market potential for HW really is: Moonwatch aside, HW has pretty much been a footnote over the last 20-ish years in the catalogues of Omega, Breitling or Zenith (to just stick to the historical “chronograph brands”). I guess there are good reasons for that…

I think there are going to be some disappointed members on this forum in regards to Wednesdays release.

Basically a 2020 160th Anniversary Silver dial, but with black subdials. Bit of a letdown if you ask me.

Limited to 600 pieces from what I’ve heard.

The 2020 WOTY Winner / TAG Heuer Carrera Silver 160 Years LE aka Ice King’s design cues were taken from the Heuer Carrera 2447S 1st execution. The silver sunburst dial is truly exceptional. While the 2023 WOTY Contender / TAG Heuer “Panda Carrera” design elements were taken from the 2447SN 2nd execution, shorter and painted hour markers, dial is not sunburst compared to the Ice King. I believe a well executed Panda will not disappoint 😉

The only disappointment will be if I can't get hold of one. Still struggling to find a TH boutique that knows anything about it or will take my deposit.

If this is what disappointed looks like I'm in disappointment Heaven.
This is the perfect Panda in my opinion.
True to the 2447sn as could be.

That probably really (and solely) depends on what you were expecting… 👎

I thought everyone kept saying the 9th... I thought that was odd. Don't usually release things on Mondays.

Initially they were saying the 9th but the dates were confused a bit

I was told that it’s releasing the 11th and I should receive my watch on the 13th if all goes smoothly. Hopefully that’s true.
