Are we expecting a Hodinkee Monaco? 😉

It wouldn't surprise me.... yawn.

Hodinkee have a good track record on Tag Heuer LEs. Both the Skipper and Orange Boy were really good executions. Unfortunately I don’t expect the Skipper to come down from price stratosphere anytime soon. Would love to have that one...

We will have to agree to disagree then. I didn't like either. I'm not just targetting Hodinkee though, I don't like the Revolution/The Rake LEs either.

If anyone wants to sell me a Blue Dreamer Carrera, I'll be on the hunt in 2020.

Ok.... so I’m going to open this can of worms and try to order all the limited edition Monaco’s we’ve had in a very busy year for releases. Full disclosure here - my father owns an 80s and I own a 90s... it’s probably reflected in my rankings and I can’t fully rule out a bias there. Having seen a box set of the 50s in full it was great to see them all laid bare together. I’ve since seen an 02... however I’ve never seen the hour glass or the J in the flesh, but I’ve seen a ‘B’ which is mush the same.

Anyway if I had to rank them top to bottom it would be....

80s/90s/70s/10s/J/00s/02/HG

Ok so I’ve always get that the Red catches my eye the most. It’s my clear top. 90s and 70s are nearly interchangeable for me. 00s and 02 are interchangeable as well.

For the group to rip apart!! 😀

I like the first 3 Monaco 50s the best, after that it starts to get really tough. I think all the Monaco's released this year are very nice.

My ranking is:
1. 90s
2. 80s (a very very close second)
3. 70s
4. H02 (because of its movement, it's blue and nicely executed)
5-7. Tie - 00s/10s/HG (I can't really choose between these 3 without seeing them in person, which I haven't.)
8. C12 Final Edition (Would be my #5, maybe even #4, if the C11 CAW211B version never existed.)

I'm surprised the 70s took it out. Maybe the OTD followers are all oldies 😉.

Seeing them all presented like that my choice is 90s, 80s, 10s, 70s and 00s last.

My guess is, that the OTD followers are more puristic.

Probably, 29% of OTD readers chose the green version but said they'd like it even more if it had a blue dial and a black strap...

Just kidding.😉

A bit of a cop out maybe but I cant bring myself to rate the watches I haven't seen after my experience with the 10s in the metal vs on the screen.
Out of the four I have seen
1) 10s
2) 80s (really really close though)
3) The hour glass Monaco
4) The new Heuer 02 Monaco (tried this on yesterday and it didn't do anything for me aesthetically.)
It's basically a Blue sunburst Cal 12 or old Cal17.
I like my crown on the left thank you.

Dying to see the other 3 #Monaco50 watches someday.
ah yes, memory jog...Must get those invitations underway for that #Monaco50 anniversary BBQ I promised to throw.

At the end of a the day, does anyone on the forum have the 70s Monaco, as I think that Rafabond sold his and I'm not sure if anyone else from here picked one up.

70s takes it for me, with 80s a close second. Of the other 3, there are other, non-limited edition Monacos I prefer.

I still have mine. And I intend to keep it!

^^^

There seems to be a constant trickle of flippers on chrono 24 for each of the 50’s. It would be nice to see as many as possible stay with collectors and those who will appreciate them 😀

Just because I know how much you all hate Monaco’s on nato straps.... not great photos but I’m on my way out!

Gasp! And using Omega NATO straps on the Monaco is even worse! 😲

I like NATO straps in general, I just don't care for them on the Monaco. But I might make an exception if it's the right combo, like this one for example.
