So one watch per store....
I think the 5 decades thing is only a loose connection to the models since Monaco was discontinued for more than 15 years....

Indeed, conveniently glossed over and a lot of people don't know this - also see the 'Carrera'.

I did enquire at Bicester but they don't know anything...

A little unfair, as it actually is 50 years since the Monaco was introduced. I don't think they are claiming 50 years of continuous production.

I agree... I was referring to the idea of 5 models, one for each decade. Assuming that there are to be 5 models, there can't be one drawn FROM each decade as such.

Yes, agreed.

Been saving up for the Monaco 50th, but the question now is which one? I'll have to wait until all 5 are revealed, as I can only afford one.

But if one is a Gulf edition, it will make the choice easier for me! 😉

Just for the record my post is pure speculation and guesswork. 170 stores was the only link I could find with TH based on El Matarifes post about them apparently only having 170 units of each.

I have my doubts about this... I don't for one second think each store will get one watch.

Interesting trying to peice the puzzle together. The initial press releases very between ' a model' and several models, released around the world. Could be either I guess

I heard several models... but could it be several simultaneous unveilings of the same model as was done in the original 1969 product launch??

I saw in one article that the planned release date was may 19

Oh dear, I will be on vacation on a beach on that date, a great many miles from the nearest TAG dealership...

I do hope there will be more than 170 pieces per model. That figure was the rumour among the staff at my AD (interesting how it syncs with the number of stores). But such a small run suggests a price my savings might not cover 😀

This is what keeps in fun. Although good, TH should take a look at Tudors recent Instagram teases - they are the new masters of creating speculation and hype.

Darn, I wasn’t budgeting for a new watch this year!
I was, then I decided to retire(or least the wife decided, (health before wealth) so funds may a bit tight depending on prices. 170 of each variant for 170 dealers, where does the 170 figure come from? Surely more than 170 worldwide.

Some of the details are wrong (i.e. number of limited editions), but the book detail is new.

HYPEBEAST: TAG Heuer Announces New Monaco Watch for 50th Anniversary.
https://hypebeast.com/2019/3/tag-heuer-monaco-50th-anniversary-watch
TAG Heuer‘s iconic Monaco is now onto its 50th anniversary, and to celebrate this milestone, the watch brand is set to release a new limited edition model along with a collector’s coffee table book.

The book, titled Paradoxical Superstar will uncover the Monaco’s popularity amongst watch enthusiasts and how successful the watch was contrary to what was generally accepted as a sports watch at the time.
...
Not only an icon in the watch world, but the TAG Heuer Monaco is also well known in automotive racing, thanks to its popularization from Steve McQueen’s character in the ’70s movie Le Mans. Paradoxical Superstar will also contain never-before-seen photos and sketches of the watch, along with a number of special stories penned by famous Monaco-owners, and a special foreword by H. S. H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.

Look for the Paradoxical Superstar book and the limited edition Monaco watch to drop at TAG Heuer boutiques and online from May 2019.

I think, if they really limit it that way, it would get very expensive. This would disappoint a 'big' bunch of the fans in the traditional Monaco Segment. My guess is, that it will be more like with the 50th anniversary gulf edition: some very limited, more expensive editions, and some non limited 'affordable luxury' watches (hopefully).

Hope they aren't following Omega's lead, with that nasty solid gold Speedmaster (32,000CHF).

I was really hoping to get a 50th Anniversary Speedmaster, but now it's off my list after they did that.
