In the 1133B was the left register a 12 hour counter versus a 30min on the mondern versions?

Beautiful watch! Congrats to all you lucky owners. I hope to own one sometime this year. Question on the box, is it covered in real or fake leather? Do you think it's as nice as the wood boxes that Tag Heuer has used in the past few years?

Thanks, the blue box is OK. I am having mine shipped home to avoid tax, so I cannot say right now if it's genuine leather. Honestly, I would have preferred it to be wood like in previous Calibre 11 Monaco's, but that's just my own personal preference.

Well, since I do think this Monaco is Heuer's most iconic model, they are trying to fill their pockets just like the million Omega Speedmasters out there. (Which I have as well). JCBiver is all about money not horology.

Until JCBiver is gone or changes course, I doubt I will give LVMH any more of my money.

Odd that they put TAG Heure inside the box. Didn't want to spend more $ on new boxes. Lame.

I completely disagree with your thoughts on J C Biver. He is more about Horology than all the people in this forum put together.

I wish I was wrong. He came into TAG, stopped the CH80 production because he felt it would compete with the 1887. Made the then current CEO resign because it was his way or the highway after he put so much effort into R&D and really trying to bring up the brand. J C BIVER comes along and makes TAG the low end brand of LVMH and now trying to attract a younger audience with brand ambassadors.

Those actions are not of a person who loves horology those are actions of a business man who wants to promote Zenith and Hublot as haute brands at the detriment of TAG.

Let's look at the reality. Can TAG Heuer sell 200,000 CH80 & 1887 per year? The answer is no. It's not good business.
All the RND work was done by Babin & as much as I think he was amazing, it wasn't turning over profit. The customers were not coming to allow it.
Now I've agreed that it is about profit but if you want to see a brand survive it is.
So Biver wants to make money, well that is what Bernard Arnold has employed him to do. But here is the kicker鈥e helped create the Royal Oak, brought Blancpain back from death, kickstarted Omega to what it is today (do you know he got James Bond to the franchise) & had the vision to commercialise the co-axial escarpement. Then saved Hublot. Maybe you should do some more research into the man. He's one of the most respected Horologists in Switzerland. Maybe you should respect the man too
And the CH80 is still around. It is just a Heuer 02 Tourbillon now 馃榾

Babin never had a chance to complete his long plan. The CH80 was going to be the culmination of all the R&D TAG was doing. And in my opinion launch TAG to the next level. You've proven my point, Biver is a business man first and foremost, he's just done it for the watch industry. Why couldn't he do it with Babin in the chair at TAG? Hum? He's autocratic that's why. Respect is something you earn. Diminishing one brand for the sake of the whole doesn't earn mine and surly doesn't show that you love horology. Sure Biver is a great marketer but nothing more for me. I'll take sustenance over bling anyday. The CH80 was going to be a great piece based on the roots of Heuer, a great working afortable thin chronograph. The Heuer 02, however much the CH80 innards it contains, is not that.

Still need to check in different light conditions, but I'd say it's likely the same.

The differences I've been able to spot so far are:
- New one is 1mm larger
- New one has the clear case back, when compared to the Anniversary's signed and limited edition verbiage
- New one has larger luminescent dots
- New one lost the quick-release pins to detach the strap, and of course the 2nd alligator strap and tool of the 40th
- New has a painted date window, whereas the Anniversary has the metallic frame surrounding the date window
- Different hour & minute hands
- Of course the box and literature
- And as David said on his article the movement is a Sellita base for CAW211P (2015) vs. ETA base for CAW211A (40th)

Fantastic looking watch guys, great pictures too.
I'm giving up my submariner for one one these, I've finally decided to do it after seeing this latest edition. It always bothered me that the 12s had the Tag logo!
Could someone show me the strap mechanism. A little detail I know, but I'm curious to see the working of it

funny, but the minute hand of CAW211P in tag site is different from the above pictures of the production model. Check the red length in minute hand...

Great shot...I've been waiting to see this. I probably prefer the thicker hands on the 40th anniversary model...but it's a big price premium to pay for marginally larger hands!

The quick release strap on the 40th anniversary was brilliant- wish that more straps had this
