On the wrist today - pairing with a blue croc strap that just arrived. Bought this watch a while back but don't think I'd posted any pics here yet.

Does dato just mean ‘date not at 3 o clock’?

Here the blue, when I tried it at TH Boutique. Note there is a plastic sheet in top of the crystal. I tried both, end up with the Panda.

Originally it was the first Carrera with a date and therefore specifically named Dato. The first series had the date at 12. These are very collectible and were the inspiration for the H02 sports Carrera above. The second series had the date at 9, the one Hodinkee re-issued.

And yet somehow a date at 6 is a crime against humanity.... 🙄

Keep saying I'm going to put the rubber strap on this one and put the yellow Calibre S back on the bracelet.... but it will never happen.

If I'm not mistaken I think it was the first chronograph with a date function period, hence the weird placement.

They were around since the 40s, also at Heuer. I think it was specifically named as the first date Carrera.
