I believe it is because the guilloche pattern is applied by hand ("main" = French for "Hand")

[Pedant mode on]In that case, it should probably say, "Guilloche à main".[Pedant mode off]

True, but "Guilloche Main" seems to be the term used- here it is on a Breguet

Well, you learn something new everyday.
A term I have not heard before.

Thanks David.

It never entered my mind getting a gold/gold plated watch. IMHO, it just feels old. Or it will only make me feel old 😵‍💫 Probably it’s just me. 😉 But it would surely be a different story if it’s a Heuer Carrera Gen2 for F1 champions 👍

True. Maybe it's telling me that I am getting old.

Another new arrival, but this one is a loaner. Really like the dial- it's a much deeper blue that I expected. It feels "big"- still 39mm, but weighs in at 124g, which I expect will prove heavier than other Monacos, but I will test on the weekend.

Out of interest- and you can tell that I've just bought a set of scales- the solid gold Monza weights 109g

At first glance I thought you had a CW2113 then I spotted that oh-so subtle (and perfectly integrated) running seconds hand at 6 o'clock and realised it is the H02 Monaco (CBL-whatever the rest of the reference is).

Here's what the scales say:
- Calibre 17 Monaco (38mm): 105g
- 40th Anniversary Calibre 11 Monaco (38mm): 116g
- 50th Anniversary Calibre 11 Monaco (39mm): 126g
- Heuer 02 Monaco (39mm): 124g

All watches weighed with their standard issue leather strap + deployant

I've decided that I'm going to start looking for a watch to pair with my current, long-term, never selling it, owned from new Tag Heuer 1000 Professional Automatic 844/5.

I look at all the modern TAGs, and the classic Heuer, and also bear in mind that my favourite watch of all time is the early (rounded) Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner (with or without the date and dimple), and I have decided that the watch I'd like to try to find is the 'negative' of my current 844/5.

According to the reference table here: http://onthedash.com/docs/DiveWatchRefTable.html - there actually isn't a 42mm, luminous face, black PVD 1000 series model. (Does anyone know different?)

The closest is the 980.031.60. The 'Living Daylights' Bond Watch (https://www.calibre11.com/bond-tag-heuer/)

So - I'm going to keep my eyes open for one of these:

However - because I think I prefer the 42mm size - I'll also be watching for the Olive 981.016 as an acceptable alternative:

I'm probably going to set myself a budget of approximately £1000 and wait for a seriously good one.
So far I'm watching Chrono24, but are there any other reasonably reliable sources I should be watching for a watch like this?

Dont remember if I told you already but Tyler running Simon Watch company is a great guy. He sold me my 980.021n and why not ask him if you can make a request for him to source you one in good condition

That's a lovely suggestion! - thanks - I'll very likely do that!

As ever, life has a way of interfering with the plans of we mere mortal men......

It's the girl-friends birthday soon, and when she glanced over my shoulder at the screen and went 'ooooooo', I knew my collecting plans were going to be put on hold....

Many thanks to Tag1000diver for a rush purchase, and this is on the way!

(now I need to find a presentation case....)

These two would be on my hit list if I could pull the trigger right now:

- Aquagraph chrono - *the* TH-branded watch that I've ever been tempted to buy. It would be my very first diving-themed watch.
- the Heuer-only branded Autavia re-edition Jack Heuer Ltd Ed - that reverse-panda with sunburst dial is such a killer. And of course the full-metal caseback (dial-wise I'd love all versions but the see-through caseback is just a deal-breaker for me!).

Evening all, hope all are keeping well in these challenging times.

So far I’ve been ‘very good’ this year and not bought a single watch! 2018/19 was a bit of a frenzy so have tried to calm down.

but this whole ‘crisis’ has made me wonder about collecting. I still live watches, but find myself wearing them far less. So will enjoy what I have and count blessings for the rest of the year I think.

Hoping for ‘that killer’ Carrera reissue or something special to entice me for Christmas or into 2021.

BTW that gold Monza looks fantastic! Congrats!

Did you take that photo? It looks superimposed. Or is it just the focus?

When are you expecting yours?
