Speaking of PVD and 80s Bond watches, one watch that hasn't been positively identified is the one Sean Connery wore in Never Say Never Again.

Should have thought that bracelet was fairly recognizable?

I’ve been thinking that for some time, but, as soon as some money gathers I find another use for it, unfortunately the cost of the latest target is way above what I want/need to spend so the gaffer just smiles at me and shakes her head.

I'm thinking about moving on a couple of pieces for it. I too am saving my pennies for our long awaited Panda Carrera in 2023

This has got me thinking I need a Perpetual.

The Datora is a complete calendar, not a perpetual. A complete calendar is basically just a triple date - you'll still have to set the date forward in months with fewer than 31 days.

(The fact that it costs roughly half what the least-expensive perpetual calendars do, is a clue! 😁)

Now if we’re discussing true perpetual calendars (ie, movements that automatically adjust for months with less than 31 days PLUS automatically adjust for leap years) this Polaris blew me away when I checked it out over the summer.

For me personally though, I think I prefer a dressier perpetual. Which is too bad since IWC, the creators of the complication, only offer it in huge watches 42mm+ :/

Yes mate was aware of that.
I've seen some youtube comparisons with the Breitling and the Patek. Not a fair fight.
Dials look similar but the Patek is a killer.
Also way out of the price point I'm in.

The Datora is also sadly quite thiccc. The case is not nearly as elegant as the dial

But I agree absolutely - can't compare a $13k Breitling to a couple-hundred-thousand-dollar platinum Patek perpetual calendar!

I’ve had a JLC and one other on the wanted list, both are day/date/month/year, not so fussed about moon phase or day/night indicator, I did look at one example, by the time it was on my wrist herself had walked out the shop, I guess £63k might have been pushing it.:whipped:

Yep, another consideration in the mix, like buying an expensive performance car, friends Lamborghini was £8k+ for a new clutch.

Very nice homage!

If all goes well, I may be getting a 6263 very soon! Been on my want list for years, and I am also thinking it may provide some benefit as a hedge against inflation for some of my savings -- who knows?!.

Can't quite decide between Panda and reverse panda though!

I am leaning to reverse panda, but currently that requires me to fork out quite a bit more, whereas I have identified a panda in my current price range. The impatient part of me leads me to want to get the panda, purely because it avoids a further wait!

I would be interested to hear everyone's preference of the two.

Excited to say that I have decided to tick off my grail list and go for a Panda Daytona 6263 - Hopefully, if all goes well, I pick up on Monday
Not quite pristine condition like photo below, but its priced to sell and I really cant justify spending lots more, especially when I still have other, less expensive vintage watches on my list.

It was this, or get 1133b and 1133g to complete my Monaco collection. I figured the Monacos can wait as I already have 4 and I am not sure I will find another 6263 at this price 😀😀

Had the call last night, was told 20wks from ordering, but came in 4wks earlier.

The only 'luxury' watch my other half has shown an interest in, in the last 4yrs. (Happy iWatch owner).

Heard they were looking to discontinue soon so place the order - 31mm Tudor Glamour silver dial auto.

Hopefully she'll enjoy this Christmas gift, also linked to the birth off our 2nd one early January.

Apologies multi post, whilst collecting the above, I managed to try on the 'Grey Man' Carrera on bracelet also.

Nicer on the leather, but for the additional £100 bracelet makes sense.

Not as nice in the black dial mind you, but a better contrast with the bracelet.

This is still the champ though....

Decided against the blue/white Dato45, now going to finally go for the Grand Carrera chrono.

@McBeardy you're a good man, showing the wife the path towards silver dial salvation. Bless you both

Upgrade to wife, she might not like (but that may change next year also ha)

True, the Carrera would also bring me into that church!
