·I'm quite fond of the CAL511x Calibre 36 selection - it's definitely not a classic Monaco.

I did think the last one (VDL) looked more 'silver' on the crown, but didn't put 2 and 2 together.
I'd still go for the blue one

Funny how most were going for the H02 DL tribute, because it's new. But Akpoguma picks the CAW211P McQueen, saying it's more classic; when in fact he picked the modern day McQueen over the "real" classic DL in that last segment. LOL

·Thus, the one that actually intrigues me the most is the following oddball:

Problem: Impossible to see in the flesh and any photos really don’t give a good idea of its legibility (IMHO)…
What can I say? Probably that I’m unfortunately only 80% convinced: The dial is beautiful, the hands legible, and the orange accents aren’t too odd. But what let’s the ensemble down (IMHO) are the subdials that lack contrast (against the rest of the dial and against the small hands).
As a result, not only are the subdials hard to read, but the square dial as a whole (which is admittedly pretty big) somehow lacks structure 🤔

·Vintage Monacos are best, and I generally prefer the greys. 1133, then 1533, then 73633. I've actually not got much regard for the 74033 "Dark Lord", I respect the rarity and the legend but don't care for the look.
Leaving vintage Monacos aside I think of the new ones, they've gotten really nice recently. I personally really like the Titan and the H02 green, and the upcoming Aubergine purple is definitely up there. Might even finally get me across the line on a modern Monaco ☕
(not counting the original black-dial Cal 12, which was actually the very first watch I bought for myself way back in 2011 😀 )

·I really liked the two-tone dial of the Grand Prix de Monaco LE (CBL2114) - a welcome departure from the standard dial. I was on the fence for buying one and was greedily asking for a discount at my local AD at the time almost every week for around 8 months. Sadly didn't get one, and now regret it. Thankfully I now see our friends in Japan are selling second hand ones at some attractive prices. Now I'm holding on to my funds to get the purple Monaco (which would have looked better as a Cal 11 or in a similar two-tone dial IMO).

It'll be extra interesting considering we only have one green, in the hands of an occasional contributor here. I feel like the purple has a lot of that same elegance and is almost like a second chance on that one.
