·Finally had a chance to see these in the metal. My feelings about them haven't changed. I think they're quite nice, but still have mixed feelings about the tachy bezel treatment.

·Tried them both on yesterday, for me they’re the perfect size, but at the same time nothing excites me about them! If I had to choose I’d go blue, purely because the dates not at 12. The strap could do with some improving though, why not make it a navy rally?

Both excellent choices and I wouldn't blame anyone for buying either, but in my opinion the Speedmaster is just on another level altogether.

I think the Speedmaster is always a watch nerd favourite, because of its history and its unchanging design (I’ve had several, and currently have a vintage Ed White.) I do think it is very austere though. There’s never that moment where a sunburst dial or a polished edge catches your eye. I can imagine for most normal people there is a lot of appeal in the new Carrera. And a good chunk cheaper as well.
