I think it would look better with a color matched roof.

Agree that the side profile is the car's best angle. Its silhouette in the sneak peak shadowy spots is what caught my eye in the first place.

The rear isn't bad, but not all that exciting to me.

However the front bumper treatment leaves much to be desired. It's too slab-faced. 🤦 Nissan_Z_Proto_exterior_Front_Three-quarter.jpg

Overall, I'm disappointed. With such a gorgeous side profile, I had hoped for something more retro and beautiful to behold, like the original.

Sadly (only from an aesthetics perspective), the requirements for pedestrian survivability largely determine the design of the front end of cars these days.

The rear suggests no hatch. 🙁

Looks like a hatch to me. Perhaps the black roof is playing tricks on your eyes.

True, but many other designers have come up with far more stylish front ends. Here's a car with a similar side profile but a more aggressive and aesthetically pleasing front end, IMHO.

Agree. Also respecting the requirements for pedestrian survivability, other designers have come up with far more stylish front ends. C-Class Coupé and AMG GT also have a similar side profile, and -obviously 😉- I like much more their front ends than of the new Nissan Z (I like its profile, but not its front and rear 🤔)

The Aston Martin Superleggera is drool worthy indeed! IMHO, one of the most beautiful looking contemporary cars out there. After seeing its silhouette, I had high hopes that the new Z might come close in terms of beauty, but at a much more affordable price. Unfortunately, it fell a little short of my lofty expectations.

Having said that, I think I like the new Z better than the Supra's look.

I feel like the front end would benefit by having additional air ducts. My pic editing skills are crappy, but you get the idea...

Something like this.
Or this.

The front and rear fascias will undergo changes to be DOT and crash-test compliant. Aside from that, there will be numerous aftermarket options that will be able to offer variety. And don't forget the NISMO version!

I quite like the car, but kinds feels like a car from a different era- manual gearbox, sports cars with conventional engines are not exactly 2020.

Having said that, I love that it exists for exactly that reason. Feels like the last hurrah...

Let's see if the clamour of "car enthusiasts" will turn out to actual sales and revenues for the Nissan Z. 🍿

It's great that Manual Transmission exists but will it justify the actual planning and production of a highly niched sports car nowadays 😕

I’ve been planning to get a Manual Sports Car BTW. But I’m looking at a different option 😗😗

I truly believe that MT adds to the fun & excitement compared to an AT. But in todays age, only a few can probably afford to have a niche weekend MT car and use it during weekends were traffic is not bad YET still needs to have a practical daily AT car. 🤔🤔

^ Yes, the headlamps could have (or better yet, should have) been more aggressive. Their overly rounded nature and LED accents are too soft!

Anyone else see a little Jaguar DNA in it’s lines.
This dates back to the original 240Z/FairladyZ, which had a lot of Jag E-Type influence if you ask me.
