^ Yes, the headlamps could have (or better yet, should have) been more aggressive. Their overly rounded nature and LED accents are too soft!
Yeah the headlights could be better, but they're OK to me. It's the big gaping rectangular mouth. Nissan really should redo the front end of the actual production model.

This artist created a much nicer front end. It looks so much better!!! I'd buy the new Z if it looked like this! 👍

I still think this is one of the best interpretations of what could have been.

The front and rear fascias will look better in production. At the moment they are both rough.

The headlights will undergo lots of changes.

The read is too soft.

Checkout these unofficial videos, they do give it a much better "real life" perspective!

That seems to be amazing, but I am very interested if they will make a new engine or put an old one with something new inside. But I think that the legend should have a new and a strong one that will kill the road. I saw many car buyers online review and they are waiting for it to come. I am waiting at least for a 3.5 liter v6 or something like that. Also I want to know the price and to see if I can preorder it, because there are less guys with money in my city and I would be the coolest there.

https://www.autoblog.com/2021/01/14/nissan-z-proto-400z-patent-renderings
It's always disappointing when a beautiful concept gets watered down for the production version. However, with the seventh-generation Nissan Z, tentatively called the 400Z, that appears not to be the case. Images discovered in a patent filing show that the production version will remain remarkably faithful to the stunning Z Proto unveiled last year.

The production renderings, discovered in Australia's IP office by CarExpert, show a now-familiar shape set to go into production in 2022. The overall shape, sleek lines, and surfaces look identical to those of the Z Proto. However, look closely and you will notice, for example, cutlines for the front and rear bumper fascias that aren't present on the concept. Other differences from the Z Proto include side reflectors, a sensor behind the grille, front and rear parking sensors and keyholes for the doors and trunk.

While the Z Proto's distinctive head and taillight graphics aren't detailed in the renderings, we can expect them to hew pretty closely to the concept's. Nissan's senior vice president of design, Alfonso Albaisa, has made it clear that the light signatures will be key parts of the car's character, with headlights inspired by the 240ZG and taillights inspired by the fourth-generation 300ZX. The renderings don't show the wheels, either, but we hope the tasteful 10-spokes will make it into production.

Some aspects of the rendering make the car even more attractive. On the Z Proto, the grille was blacked out, giving the impression of a large intake. The rendering shows the same grille and opening but it looks more filled out.

The next Z is rumored to be powered by the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400's turbocharged V6, good for a significant bump to 400 horsepower from the 370Z's 332. Importantly, though, the Z will offer a manual transmission.

As for when we might see this production version on the streets, chief engineer Hiroshi Tamura has said the word "Proto" gives a clue. The last time Nissan used "Proto" in a car's name was the 2005 Nissan GT-R Proto concept. It presaged the GT-R, which went on sale in 2007. If we extrapolate, we can expect the Z to go on sale in 2022.

On a slightly different topic, I was shocked by this infographic re: "D Category" sport car sales in France for 2020. OK, this is only one market and during a year impacted by COVID, but it's quite shocking how few cars in this category are getting sold in a major EU market. The US and Japan will be the main market for the 400Z, but it's hard to see how a next-gen Audi TT, Jag F Type or BMW Z4 could be approved when this category looks to be dead.

Hold on to one of these last generations of pure petrol driving pleasures. Even before COVID, the sports cars sales have been very hard to justify in a strategy portfolio thus collaboration was one of the solution. BMW has announced that the Z4/Supra will be there last. I’m not sure if Toyota will still push for another generation. Or might they might be going hybrid.

I’d still love to have an Alpine A110 or Cayman GT4 🥰🥰

Most of these can't keep up with a Tesla sedan. I know speed is only one factor but it's a bit silly to be sitting in a sportscar that's slower than the familycar of 4 next to you. I've been looking into the upcoming model Y and it accelerates to 100km/h in 3.7s. I love my classic 911 but I would feel like an idiot buying a new petrol car.

Tried a couple of Teslas, friends bought in, but not for me, some quality issues at the price, and styling not to my taste, yes they may be quicker than my Honda but to get a rag top I'd have to spend stupid money, one pal rattled off performance specs(model 3) and grinned telling me his car was faster, so I told him mine would also do the limit on the motorway, but if he wanted to compare on a track day I'd happily go along, oops no takers. My car is the fun car and we have a hatch for dull duties, Johnnycab days are a bit away yet, maybe never for me at my age.

Yup, that’s how you put it sir 👍 Teslas might be quicker in 0-60 but it’s not “fun” when you’re driving it. It’s a point A-B car. No wonder you don’t see Teslas on trackdays 😉 I’ll quote Collin McRae.

There will always be faster more powerful cars than yours. It is not always about the car, but more importantly, you as the driver 😎 Buy the car that always makes a smile into your face 😉

Maybe the Tesla is faster than a 911 (or than most of petrol sports cars) in the 0-100 km/h on a straight line... But how many seconds ahead of the Tesla would you get on a twisty road?

Even more important: How many tons of extra fun would you get out of the Tesla, in everything other than speeding in a straight line? With its mega-heavy weight, no engine noise, no gear changes... it's more like driving a fridge than a sports car, no matter how fast it is at 0-100 km/h

As long as petrol and petrol engines remain: a V8 for me, please! 😉

A 100% electric car is great for the city (like a smart fortwo EQ), but not for having fun driving out of the city, or much less for long trips 🤦

My driving days may be over by the time fossil fuel is banned, or self driving cars are the normal.

Technically you would be driven.
The howling boxer is half the fun of driving my 911 and I think classics and fun cars on petrol won’t be banned anytime soon. It’s a huge industry. But I don’t think keeping standard sedans burning fossils is a good thing. Yesrerday a new 911 turbo s took off next to me. I could barely hear it. I don’t believe the thrill between that one and a Taycan would be much different. The drive I had in a Taycan turbo was pretty sensational.

It's not about the 0-60, it's all about scowl to grin time.
Yes! When you start the engine of a petrol sports car, you are immediately smiling 😀... but when you start the engine of an electric car, nothing happens 🙁... you just see a “READY” sign on the screen, and that’s all 😁
