So, a great day for quartz watches! 😉

I never thought that a battery-powered watch (and on a NATO strap!) would win the WOTY 😳… a big change from its predecessors! and yet another example that not everyone likes the new glassboxes.

If there had been a second round among the 6 finalists:
my vote would have been for the Carrera Porsche 963, as this Extreme Sport range is a completely new case design for 2024 (finally!), and I like it a lot… although among them -as a Senna fan and because of the 30th Anniversary- I put the Senna Tourbillon first and the Porsche 963 second.

Great job again Rob! 👏🏼👏🏼 Thanks! 👍🏼👍🏼

An interesting side note. Rob (@Aquagraph) has always been under the impression that THF and COCO favor heritage. However, in looking at this year's WOTY Top 10, Avant-Garde (or Modern) not only won but also took 7 spots out of 10.

I think the reason the Seafarer came up short is because many of us are still lukewarm about the new Glassbox. Had it been a faithful re-issue and Heuer branded, the Seafarer likely would've easily won. My WOTY pick was the 3rd place Gold Glassbox but in reality, I would never buy one over the vintage original 1158CHN. If TAG had done a proper "faithful" reissue, I probably would.
That's true Michael. But it's generally been the case that there's been this 'one' Heritage piece that all the Heuer fans all loved and that made it a no brainer every year. And because there was always just one it didn't dilute the vote. But I also think you're right about the glassbox, and also the Seafarer being 42mm didn't help either... but it was so tight that the smallest of movements either way would have changed the outcome, and let's not forget 8 members didn't even return their votes.

My thoughts were
1 Seafarer
2 Panda
3 Sundowner.

5 SUBDIALS
3 COLOURS
3 STRAPS

My prediction was almost perfect, with 6 subdials and 3 different strap materials. Was just the 3 black dials where 3rd place let me down.

I did predict the winner though, with my vote being correct.

Just shows that you shouldn’t write off Battery Power, NATO’s or Aquaracer’s. 🤪

I will say I think a couple months on the Seafarer is starting to lose its luster with me a bit. The polished subdials / subdial hands are very hard to read and I think my initial thought that the Glassbox works better in 42 instead of 39, has not lasted.

Worth noting that all 6 Monaco's received WOTY votes, even the rattrapantes!

Agreed. I'd also add that I don't even consider the current glassbox to be Heritage. It's Modern with heritage inspired dial designs IMHO. As it seems TAG's current direction is against doing "faithful" reissues, like 3 of the past WOTY winners, it totally evens out the playing field.

In all seriousness, the Sundowner is worthy of its TH WOTY status. Fantastic piece.

I hope TAG Heuer has a great 2025.

Most of the 2024 offerings didn’t create a buzz for me.

I’d like to see a C11 Monaco or H02 Monaco that has a unique and amazing dial (not a skeleton).
If a rumor I heard is true, there's a new C11 Heuer Monaco Gulf coming in 2025. That might be the one to see a Monaco take the crown. ::psy::

Thank you for your work and dedication, Rob. In any case, I was in the top 3 with 1 watch. I will delve further into the outcome later. I am now busy with my other 'heritage' hobby. Greetings from Torino.

I could easily get behind a Monaco winner next. Needs to be nicely done, along the lines of this years Pink finalist. Very cool that.

Very interesting read. Thank you Rob for your tireless awesome work.
Altough I like the Time and Tide AR very much I would never have guessed, that it would win. Happy for the COCO to become a bit more 'Avant garde'.

Do like that pink Monaco, if Id had more than 30s to think about it, that would have been my #2.

It was close fourth for me. I went for:

1. Sundowner.
2. Diamond Bezel Carrera.
3. All gold Skeleton Tourbillon.

Really wanted to include a Skeleton Extreme for my third place, as think that range is cool, with the all gold being the one that stood out when ignoring price.

Could easily have slotted in the Pink Monaco instead though. Scored the same from me.

I strongly dislike the polished accents of the subdials. I hope they stop doing that in future models.

Those were the 2 exact reasons I never got into it. The polished silver in all the new glassboxes look like a plastic finish when I see them in person.

(and 39 all the way)
