I've just been to the Hour Glass in Brisbane and tried it on. I have to say it is a real triumph of design, IMO. It looks gorgeous and the mix of Calibre 11/Calibre 12 detailing, i.e. left hand crown with radial markers, really works well.
Here are a few mobile phone photographs (note that there is plastic wrap over the watch head, hence the glare):
Today was the first day they have had it on display and I was the first customer to come in and enquire about it.
Sadly, I don't think my better half is going to authorise this purchase though. At $8,900, it is good step up from the 'standard' Monaco price and, somehow, I don't think they will be offering any discounts when there are only 50 for the whole world.
Other than the usual reference number and serial number, the caseback carries the text: "THG xx/50".

Ha, ha. I love it and if I had a spare $9k lying around, I would have bought it today.
I just wish they would take the dam plastic wrapper off the dam watch though.
How are you supposed to make a call on a $10000 watch with a bit of plastic stuck on it.
Seems a bit silly to me.
On the subject of the Black PVD coating, how did this feel and look. I can imagine quite spectacular.
I really would love to try this watch on myself as it does intrigue me, but I won't be going close to an Hour Glass store for a few weeks I would imagine.
I see, well that's something I suppose. It has puzzled me for many years the practice of keeping the plastic wrap on in store. Just doesn't seem to be the best way to present a thing of beauty.
