I'm quite afraid of what TAG will try to foist on us for the Autavia's anniversary though

The Autavia was launched in 1962, the Carrera in 1963 👍

I'm game.

I don't mind, as long as it's a proper heritage Heuer re-edition. 😀

Ok so no pandas next year 😬
Who knows, won't Jack Heuer turn 90 next year?

Autavia re-edition? Not a chance

For a foisted Autavia?
GIVE ME A 1:1!

Or maybe just a 1:.095. Then the rest of the gang can have all the 41mm, mushroom pushers, and skeleton Carreras they so desire.

The Autavia re-editions are gone I think. Once bitten, twice shy.

They've got the case for it, as the Autavia-ish Fragment F1 shows.

I reckon the Autavia might have done better if they'd have stuck more closely to the script. Loads of people voted on which model they were going to reissue, but when it arrived, it was too chunky and the bezel too thick. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice watch, but having engaged the watch enthusiast community, it was a bit of a letdown really.

That case is more reminiscent of the 3rd-gen Autavias, released in 1969.

I have heard that TAG has not completely shelved that ghastly Flyback chrono they showed a couple years ago, and I fear that they'll try to release it as some sort of nod to the Autavia's 50th.

I really, really hope not though

I know. But they don't have to do a re-edition of the 1962 version. Any heritage model, if done right, will be cool by me.

According to IG comments it should be available on US TAG Heuer site. Someone just bought one there apparently.
Out of stock now

TAG Heuer or together with collaborations has pretty much exhausted their re-editions. The only two missing are the 39mm glassbox 3-register pandas and reverse pandas. I’m sure they’ve been keeping these cards for a certain future release. It would be nice though if C11 can be the one to have the collaboration on this. The Dato is nice but would have preferred the 2-register 12 o’clock date but they already did that somewhat with the 160th release (pic by sir @Hubert ) but in a modern take. Just by looking at the list in “Heuer Superstars / Holy Grails” you’ll know which re-editions are possibly coming or not. Still, other possible editions are the Seafarer, Mareograph, Yachting or GMT Autavias. Even the cushion case Carrera was already done but only with the ultra limited number. TAG Heuer will soon run out of bunnies to pull out from that magic “Heuer” hat.

Just by way of comparison to the 15 pages of posts about this watch here:

Omega Forums - can't find a single thread or post about it
Rolex Forums - a two-page thread
Watchuseek - a 5 page thread

So basically there a few people discussing it elsewhere (and everyone who matters is here!), but not a huge number online that I can see that have actually bought it. Whilst I'm sure some will have gone to genuine collectors and watch enthusiasts on Hodinkee's mailing list, this watch hasn't made a massive splash on the forums in the same way a new colourway on a Tudor Black Bay would, and I suspect a lot have been snapped up by speculators.
