Simple comparison of the book prices between Hodinkee and Amazon will highlight the premium charged.

Their new watch prices are on par but their vintage watches are overpriced imo. They do sell, quickly too. Although their LEs are on the high side, they tend to keep their value. TAG Heuers own Fujiwara LE was the most expensive Carrera LE to date.

Hodinkee sell the 160th for about $6000. This will be more expensive for sure.

Launch is today at 1pm UK time.

Cheaper there than in Europe?

Most watches are cheaper in US compared to here though, right? They dont steal as much money from the population via taxes. Here there is a 25% punishment where the regime requires for shops to add 25% on the price so the regime get their hands on that tax money. Makes a big difference when we talk about watches that cost 5-8000 Euro...

Correct. If buying in the UK from the US, you pretty much have to take the dollar amount as the £ amount you pay because anything you save gets added back on again in VAT.

I was slightly under on price for the 160th, sorry. But I still reckon the newest addition will be more expensive than that.

I suspect these vintage glassbox models dont sell good enough to become regular production. It takes quite some time for TAG just to sell the few Montreals and Ice Kings. Remember all the heritage 41mm Carreras (those discussed earlier today, one is a Jack Heuer dont remember reference) and how many ended up in the outlets. Monzas and Autavias are other examples where the community loves it but sales are bad and we see them in outlets and discounted in AD's.

If this kind of watches would be huge success business wise TAG would of course produce a lot more and make them standard offerings.

A voice of reason on the C11 forum! 😁 It's funny how vocal the minority of potential 'buyers' are about these 39mm Carreras...

I can't even work out what time it will be on which day in Australia so I doubt that I will tune in to the unveiling live.

You have to admire Hodinkee, they've created a situation where people feel compelled to spend thousands of pounds on a watch they haven't seen (or might not have seen) simply because they know it will sell out in minutes and to delay is to risk having to pay a flipper's ransom. You can hardly blame them for exploiting their clout, but wouldn't it be interesting to see what would happen if they released an ugly watch that people decided they didn't want, it would only take one misstep for the spell to be broken - or would it?

Be careful what you wish for Rob...
This could be exactly that situation..but then again there only needs to be 250 people that like this release and Job done.
