Couldn't we do something less tasteful? I'm thinking two tone black and gold bracelet with a gold bezel and get Alec M to render the Calibre 11 logo over the whole dial....

How about something based on the recent Ronnie Peterson case carrera
That would be a nice alternative.

Oooh. Count me in for a Calibre 18 heritage. I'd be 100% in for a black dialed Calibre 18 Carrera Telemeter if one was ever produced, despite what I've read from a few people here re: the movement not being justified in the price. Prob be my next Photoshop on IG.

The 39mm Telemeter case / aesthetics are just too close to being vintage-perfect to resist for me. Might pick up one of these soon. Have resisted too long...
Here's a rough mock-up to help illustrate how it could look, if the same dimensions from The Rake LE were used.

I'd buy 7 and pass them out to family so I'm surrounded by them all the time. I love it.

Fantastic design by @Ara

Now that's very good! I wonder why they felt the need to put Calibre 18 on the dial though!

Tried to make it match the current Telemeter as much as possible just to show that all it takes is a new dial on that watch to have another amazing Carrera.

Kept “Calibre 18” in there because I figured that’s what TH would do. My other choice was “SWISS” in that spot. Would prefer that but I tried to be a realist.

Thanks for the repost! I appreciate the support. Figured I could use my photoshop skills to bring wishlists to life.

Wish I could make my own dials. Would be so much fun. I’m sure designing the Calibre 11 Siffert was an amazing experience. Freaking home run.

In my mind, for this type of design, the key goal would be to approach the proportions of the original Carreras.

Unfortunately, some aspects may not be doable, like having the subdials more separated than what the current calibres allow. But some approximations could help. The dimensions used by The Rake Carrera are a very good starting point. Add recessed subdials (black or white), adjust some of the hour markers and remove the Swiss stamp, while keeping the Calendar date out.

Finally, if all the cases will have to be produced (assuming there is no more inventory), then why not ask if a minor tweak is possible, that could make the dimensions of the case closer to the original. Like the new Autavia, the Telemeter case looks "fat" and gives the impression is a women's watch. A few minor adjustments to the dimensions of lugs would "fix" this.

Here's another rough mock-up with some of these revisions, including the longer lugs; please excuse the imperfections.

Here's a side-by-side with my the original mock-up (based on The Rake Carrera), to help see the impact of the longer lugs.

I really like the reverse panda one but either one would be a very strong release IMO

Agreed. Wish they would do it.

I mean, there’s like 712 Carreras iterations now. Why not make one that looks like the actual Carrera?

Unless a 60s inspired design is reserved for 100 piece limited editions only.

Telemeter case + shorter lugs definitely look sorta “fat” as you say.

Re: no more “inventory” of cases —> I’ve read that before. What does that mean exactly? Is this some sort of hold up? How hard is it to make more? Or even make a new, better proportioned case? If The Rake and Hodinkee Skipper exist in a limited run, I can’t imagine a case being a hold up.

I mean, I own a Delorean and the front left fender is a rare find (in case someone needs one). Urban legend claims the fender dies are at the bottom of the ocean. That seems like a challenge to reproduce. But a proportionally correct Carrera case sounds like something they can do (and already do with The Rake and Skipper).

Honestly, I just don’t think they want to bring back the 60s style Carrera as a part of the heritage line. Who knows, maybe that changes one day.

Hang on, why are we talking about watches? You have a Delorean?!? Very cool.

That's our solution right there! We'll give you a few thousands, set your Delorean to go back to the 60's, and just bring back all the original Carreras. Problem solved! 😁

Wow a delorean 😀 this thread just gets better and better!

The black telemeter is pretty nice, but I remember @Hubert (I think) didn't particularly like the original, will this have the same issues? I wish I had ordered a skipper, the colours and asymmetric register works so well. I still have a soft spot for a telemeter, must try one on.

Yes, my gripes with the Telemeter are well documented. What gives me hope, are the revisions made for the Skipper & The Rake LEs.

Nevertheless, still think a ~41mm case, like the Jack Heuer Calibre 17 models, would be better.

Here's a side-by-side shot that I just took, to help illustrate the differences.

Here's a snap from a video that compares the Telemeter against a vintage Carrera. Notice the circumference.

Here's a crop from a picture from On The Dash to show how the original Carrera compares to the Jack Heuer 80.

Those photos showing the Telemeter alongside other Carreras shows just how much the Telemeter looks like a boil! (IMO, of course 😀)
